Hundreds of Hispanic Students Leave School & Hold March Demanding Respect

What country are we in? 200 students left school and held a march today following the reports yesterday that 4 students dare wear American flag shirts on Cinco de Mayo.

MorganHill Times reported:

About 200 Hispanic teens are marching in Morgan Hill yelling “We want respect!” and “Si se puede!” in reaction to a controversy ignited when the Live Oak High School principal effectively sent four students home for wearing T-shirts with American flags on them during Cinco de Mayo.

Mexican-American students felt the students were being disrespectful on the only day they celebrate their heritage while students sporting red, white and blue said it violated their First Amendment rights.

Six police cars and a Morgan Hill motorcycle officer have been cruising alongside the large group as it marches.

The group – mostly high school students – walked out of school this morning after the story of four students who were sent home because they wore American flag T-shirts went viral on TV and online. Many wear red, white and green and two large Mexico flags can be seen at the front of the line.

The students say they want people to know they’re proud of their heritage and they believe wearing red, white and blue on Cinco de Mayo is disrespectful.

This is absolutely great--they don't know what resentment this will cause, and how useful it can be. Think about being a member of that community who happens to dislike seeing a foreign flag brandished in their own home town...

It puts me in mind of the Islamists. Should I have to wear a burqua on Terrorist Pride Day?

I once lived in a cute little town with a lot of Germans--they had their Wurstfests and flew their ancestral homeland's flag right next to American flags for an evening of fun , beer, saurkraut, and dancing. Nobody with an American flag would have been excluded. This is how to go about it.

It absolutely enrages me that students with patriotic dress would be ostracized and punished in this fashion. They should sue not only on First Amendment grounds, but on grounds of violating the 1964 Civil Rights act of being discriminated against because of race and national origin!!!

This incident clearly occured at Montebello HS and it was a big enough deal at the time that the incident remains fresh in the minds of many of us who follow such things. This is the type of crap we are breeding in the government schools...everyone has their own egos super inflated. These hyphenated social clubs and groups is the last straw. You get what you sow and we have been sowing this crap for so long now, we are all lost balls in the high weeds. Can’t respect punk a$$es that disrespect the flag of the country of those who fought and died so that can go to a free school and be a citizen of a free country. Sad thing is that many who fought and died were of Mexican descent and worthy of my respect but not these idiots.

If most of our Governors, local leaders, and school administrators were worth a shit, they'd just apply a little encouragement to these junior grade criminals, and sit back and let them do what we know they would do. Then call in the ANG and let them mop up the resulting mess. These little terrorists would probably be a lot less enthusiastic afterwards! But instead, our leaders get their knickers in a twist because some American kids showed up with U.S. Flags and upset the Mexican kids?! Un-freakin-believable.
