Sure, it all makes sense.
Why should American kids be allowed to wear T-shirts with the American flag printed on them in America?
Thankfully one high school administrator was equally outraged and sent the offenders home for it.
Five kids attending Live Oak High School in Morgan Hill, Calif., decided to wear patriotic clothing (T-shirts and bandannas with the American flag on them) on Cinco de Mayo. Assistant Principal Miguel Rodriguez told them that the clothing was inappropriate for the holiday and to ditch the bandannas and turn their shirts inside out or go home.
The kids chose option B. And now the town of Morgan Hill finds itself in the middle of a controversy.
One of the students, Daniel Galli, said school officials told him they could wear their patriotic garb any other day, but "but today is sensitive to Mexican Americans because it's supposed to be their holiday so we were not allowed to wear it today."
That's what Annicia Nunez, another Live Oak High student, thinks: "We don't deserve to be get disrespected like that. We wouldn't do that on Fourth of July."

Like film critic Roger Ebert. He has a solution.
"Kids who wear American Flag T-shirts on 5 May should have to share a lunchroom table with those who wear a hammer and sickle on 4 July," he tweeted.

There is an exchange student program. If there is an exchange administrator program, may I suggest that Miguel Rodriguez spend a year as an exchange Assistant Principle in, say, North Korea?
Cinco de Mayo and St. Patrick’s Day are beer holidays in the U.S.
My folks were Ukranian. We had and still have our Festivals every year with traditional food, dance etc....
What we don't do is FORCE others to be observe our festivals.
The school got it wrong by having such a day in the first place.
If Hispanics representing only 13 percent of US population are this demanding and willing to use violence to back their demands, what will they be like if they are 25 percent of US population?? Maybe it is time to look at our immigration quotas and adjust them.
I have no problem celebrating Cynic de Mayo.
I have a real problem punishing American kids for being patriotic.
If we celebrated every country’s victory over the French the year would be one big party.

I'm white...most of my friends are white and that's the way it is....but I'm never disrespectful to anyone.

So, these Mexican-Americans aren't Americans themselves with pride in this country? So much for the melting pot and an example of why multiculturalism is destructive.
Liberals for years have touted the idea of many separate cultures within one culture in order to gain power and it ripping the country apart.
No problem. Five patriotic kids with the brass to stand up to school administrators vs. a couple of skinny dweebs and fat girls with Lefty parents who may still be on drugs. I think the confrontation would be short and exciting. And personally, I'm betting on the patriots. Any takers?

May 1, the non-battle of Puebla to celebrate when the city surrendered to the US Army without a fight.
September 14, the day the American flag was hoisted above the palace in Mexico City.
And while we are at it, let's kick the stupid Pennsylvania rodent to the curb and make February 2nd a national holiday celebrating the signing of the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo.
If the students of mexican decent wanted to show their own “class act” status, they themselves would wear the identical shirts and speak in support of the students.
With no excuses, exceptions, or azlan/la raza BS.

A celebration of theft from the French and the one skirmish the mexican bandits won in the war they lost? Ahhh, ok, sure.
Or perhaps Mr. Roger Ebert Would rather just enjoy sitting down to lunch with these fine fellows...

Because this is the "sensitivity" that they seem to actually understand.
Because historically, that is the sort of thing that got then to stop their ways at the u.S. border.
