Archaeologists are stumped after finding a 100-year-old Swiss watch in an ancient tomb that was sealed more than 400 years ago. They believed they were the first to visit the Ming dynasty grave in Shangsi, southern China, since its occupant's funeral. But inside they uncovered a miniature watch in the shape of a ring marked 'Swiss' that is thought to be just a century old.

Thank you Harlan Ellison.

For over 100 years, it's been right more often on a daily basis than Obama has been his whole life.
Was Jimmy Hoffa in there reading Obama’s long-form BC ...
Could someone who remembers this please re-post the link to the article?
That's just Sedona for you - too many folks sitting around in convergences.
I bet the folks that publish this magazine could tell you all about it —
Callahan's? Nah, its in NY, at least according to Spider Robinson, who created the place. Good luck in finding it though, outside of the regulars, the only folks who seem to find it are those who actually need to find it, outside of the occaisonal odd time traveller, extraterrestrial or alternate planar denizen (whom from time to time are actually of the category listed above, those who need the place).
See "Callahan's Cross-Time Saloon", or "Time Travellers Strictly Cash" for further details, and remember "pain shared, is pain decreased, while joy shared is joy increased"...

What is weird about this is that I could swear I read this story at least a year ago.
Hey the date of this article is 18th December 2008. I did read it over 2 years ago. The date you listed is incorrect.
LOL
Yep, they’re called packrats. Ask me how I know?
I remember seeing a NCIS episode where a sealed and supposedly untouched example of a civil war casket was found. After the seal was meticulously broken, and the casket was opened, a group of archaeologists were standing around it marveling at the body within which was clothed in Union garb and, although not very pretty to look at, was remarkably well preserved. It seemed to be quite the historic treasure until one of the scientists spotted a cell phone under the left hand of the corpse. Uh-oh! Cue the opening credits.
I remember that thread. I’m thinking that there was more to it then that - perhaps I saw a TV show on it as well. In fact, I’m pretty sure I did.
I’m always fasinated by that kind of stuff - and hope that weird stuff like that is real. However, I suppose there is a more rational explanation.
But, if it was a Time Machine - it looks like they also had a “miniturize” setting on the thing.
“Watch stop at 10:06.”
Only if it had been a Timemax.
...time travel is documented in the bible, the just don’t say it in those words!
Didn’t obama meet with extraterrestrials to talk about this? I think I saw those headlines in the grocery store rack a few weeks ago.
Yeah, I think they were discussing FedEx-ing his birth certificate to Andromeda
>>> That episode proved what Star Trek could be with good writing.
Not to mention giving the viewer an indelible warning against allowing your ears to be caught in a mechanical rice picker. Think of all the anguish that saved.
Not any more. Moved lock, stock, and patrons to the Florida Keys.
Spider Robinson's output of fiction seems to have dropped to almost nothing lately. The mary-jane must finally have rotted his brain.
Actually, the article was just written this week, but someone took it back with a time machine to December of 2008 and published it before it happened. That's why you saw it again.
