Palin endorses Fiorina for Senate; stiffs fellow Tea Partier DeVore, disses Campbell
San Fran Chronicle ^ | May 6, 2010 | Joe Garofoli

Here's Palin on Fiorina:

"Please consider that Carly is the conservative who has the potential to beat California's liberal senator, Barbara Boxer, in November. I'm a huge proponent of contested primaries, so I'm glad to see the contest in California's GOP, but I support Carly as she fights through a tough primary against a liberal member of the GOP who seems to bear almost no difference to Boxer, one of the most leftwing members of the Senate. Carly needs our support in this crucial election year when we have a real chance of putting an end to the Pelosi/Reid Big Government" agenda.

Carly's reaction:

"I am honored and grateful to have Sarah Palin's support. She, too, is a political outsider and a strong fiscal conservative, and we share a common concern for the direction our country is headed in under Barbara Boxer and her allies in Washington," Fiorina said.

This old ploy of giving her the ‘benefit of the doubt’ is worn out.

Then shall we give her the 'benefit of the benefit of the doubt'?

Yeah sure Sarah hits some right notes but then she decides to wear her “Eau de RINO” after getting a McLame makeover.

Face it, Sarah has been assimilated to the GOP establishment. They got her a lot of high paying gigs and she is singing their tunes.

No one asked Sarah to go trotting around the country endorsing this one and that one. I would much rather see her at the podium with bowed head and a serious demeanor talking and espousing her conservative principles, without the shrill shrieking and cutesy wootsy folksy one-liners.

No doubt Sarah has intelligence but she is also a mother, a wife, a media pundit and a rock star collecting some good coin which she undoubtedly needs. But she is stretched thin.

She is not carving her own, she is buttkissing the repub establishment and it’s making true conservatives nauseous and disappointed. Better that she distance herself from them.

I can see Sarah saying things like “Senator Graham has my support as I see he is a problem solver yada yada yada”.

I see a conservative saying “Senator Graham has some funny ideas about legalizing illegal actions and passing mammouth laws based on junk science! Yeah that’s the ticket!”

Fiorna hasn’t endorsed Amnesty. She’s been studying the Arizona law to make an informed decision on it. You can be against that law but still be for getting illegal immigration under control.

Sarah Palin has something to say to the "nattering nabobs of negativity" ... LOL ...

Palin Endorses Pro Life, Traditional Marriage, Military, Anti-Amnesty & 100% NRA Rated Carly Fiorina

Governor Palin is Right that Carly Fiorina is the Best Choice for California Conservatives

Devore is conservative. A real conservative. Not perfect, but very good in terms of his positions.

Then why attack Fiorina? If his positions are good then get them out there, and explain them. No need to tear down others. That's not just Reagan, that's Biblical as well.

Reagan spoke ill of other Republicans very often.

Only after he lost the first 5 primaries to Ford; then he went on a tear after Ford, and probably cost Ford the Presidency, ushering in Carter. Ford wouldn't have been able to run again in 1980, it would have been Reagan's time anyway. But we paid for it with 4 years of Carter.

Bottom line: we do more damage to ourselves with internal carping and backbiting and character assassination and misrepresentation than the Democrats do to us.

So tell me what's good about Devore.

It saved Reagan's career, too. If he had been forced out of the race after the NC primary (he was out of money), it would probably have been his Waterloo. Craig Shirley discusses this at length in his book on the 1976 campaign.

You do your homework, I'm not here to educate you. I've been following Devore since the beginning, and I researched his background and voting history. I also looked into Fiorina. I'm supposed to attend a $2500 per person fundraiser at a friend's house for her in another month, and I haven't decided whether to attend. I have also read extensively on her--her positions, contributions, and her background in business, too. Here's a hint: she isn't very good at management, and much of her career has been advanced by the affirmative action agenda. Her poor job at HP isn't what bothers me, though. Plenty of good politicians would make poor CEOs. It's her positions, and her history of opportunism. If you would look into it, and IF you are conservative, which I doubt, you might find out what you want me to explain to you.

AND there we have it. A person can only be conservative if they agree with you. Bigoted much?

You want to know why CA has lost its soul to the liberals? Because self-righteous "conservatives" like you ruined it. You're negative, attacking, judgmental, condescending and simply rude.

I doubt you're a conservative; fascist, control freak maybe, but conservative? Your own words and attitude betray you.

I agree. Palin knew how to get the female and independent vote in Alaska and I think she’s learning now how to get it in the rest of the country. One quick political study!

I wish I understood better what her approach really would be with the illegals, but I guess time will tell. (And in a later posted I corrected myself: Carly’s taking a no amnesty/no ‘path to citizenship’ position.

I think Sarah Palin is basically a decent person with the right political views on most subjects from a theoretical perspective, but totally out of her element in the real world of national and international politics. And I don’t think she is especially well read on most political subjects.

She should go back to Alaska.

Folks seem to be shocked that she doesn't reflexively support every candidate that most tea party folks support. She never said she'd support the MOST conservative folks running for office.

If you read her statement, she's supporting Fiorina, because she believes that she is the candidate who can defeat Boxer. Doesn't mean she doesn't like Devore, she just apparently believes that he can't pull in enough votes to retire Boxer.

Talk to HP employees. They don’t like her.

May be, but that doesn't mean she wouldn't be a good Senator.

This piece is from the Chronicle. It is meant to be a wedge to divide the Republicans over Sarah Palin. Don't fall for it.

So she endorsed Carly Fiorina in the primary, so what? Is that enough for you to accept the Chronicle's advice that this undermines Palin's credibility from now on to forever?

Is this enough to ignore anything else Palin says regarding other races in 2010 for the House or Senate?

That's what this piece is about. It's not about Fiorina, or dissing DeVore; it's about Palin. It's about the continuing mission to politically assassinate Sarah Palin before she takes down the Democrat party.

Tom Campbell, Chuck DeVore, and Carly Fiorena, all poll within a couple of points of Boxer.... Babs polls at about 44%...not good for an incumbant......Fiorena is closest to Boxer of the three.....-1~2 points......

Any and all of the Repubs could beat Babs if the election was tomorrow....

Conservative? I rate ‘em DeVore, Campbell, Fiorena....

My choice is DeVore....but any of the Repubs is magnitudes of degrees better than Boxer....The point is to get Babs OUT!

Great points.....Babs has beaten both Conservative and Moderate Republicans very easily before....Carly may be a different story.......

While I’d prefer Devore, Fiorena will be Boxer’s worst nightmare....a much harder nut for her to crack......

No matter what, I just want Babs to pack her bags, and go back to her home in Brooklyn....anyone that can do that has my support in the general election.....

I know that the author is one of the most leftist on the Chron's site. Surely any Palin news gets his PDS in full flush.

I do think the story itself is a big deal though since Palin didn't have to endorse anyone but she chose to.

“I’d like to see conservative candidates who make it more about principle than anything else.”

I just want to see Babs painted GONE! That would be a sea change in California.......

Babs will color any and all candidates against her as right wing extremeists that want to pass out machine guns on the street corners....she actually had an ad like that against Matt Fong, a moderate Republican....

Babs’ll have a tough time doing that against Fiorena, and an easier time doing that against Campbell, and DeVore....

Carly is my second choice in the Primary, but I believe she’ll be the only one left standing after the November election....and Babs will be packing for Brooklyn....IMHO
