The Phoenix Suns will wear "Los Suns" on their jerseys in Game 2 of the Western Conference semifinals on Wednesday night, owner Robert Sarver said, "to honor our Latino community and the diversity of our league, the state of Arizona, and our nation."
The decision to wear the jerseys on the Cinco de Mayo holiday stems from a law passed by the Arizona Legislature and signed by Gov. Jan Brewer that has drawn widespread criticism from Latino organizations and civil rights groups that say it could lead to racial profiling of Hispanics. President Barack Obama has called the law "misguided."

"Golly, how can we alienate 70% of the population of the state that supports us, and show support for the 30% of the population who can't afford to come to our games?"
In a state with a lot of hispanics, this is a move calculated to draw fans more than anything else.
so stupid, they need to keep their mouthes shut and do what they are paid for and that is to play basketball....
i am so sick of sports...musicians actors etc using their platform to protest....do what your paid for and thats it...stfu....
Give up your money NBA! Give it to the illegals for tickets back to Mexico or wherever!Time for the Governor to impose an 90% surtax on NBA players only! Worked for AIG!
Diversity? Blacks make up about 12% of the population, yet they account for 82% of the players in the league. How is that "diversity?"
Spread the good news!
The Soles
has a nicer ring to it.
I’d boycott the NBA but, alas, I never watch it anyway.
If this was planned before the law was signed, I think this is just looking for trouble where there is none.
If this was planned after the law passed, then the Suns deserve all the bad press they will recieve.
Just damn ...
They’re only doing it halfway. It should be “Los Soles”.
Idiots.
Los idiots
As a lifelong Suns fan and one-time season ticket holder . . . I hope they lose. I’m finished with this franchise.
The problem is that at least 70% of Americans support the Arizona Law so the NBA is just biting the hand that feeds them for an ethnic group that could really care less about them.
Some might call that disproportionality.
Note the basketball logo with "Noche Latina" on it.
Exactly. There are what? TWO Asians in the whole league, and both are over 7 feet tall (i.e., “completely typical Asians”???)
“I think it’s fantastic,” Nash said after Tuesday’s practice. “I think the law is very misguided. I think it’s, unfortunately, to the detriment of our society and our civil liberties. I think it’s very important for us to stand up for things we believe in. As a team and as an organization, we have a lot of love and support for all of our fans. The league is very multicultural. We have players from all over the world, and our Latino community here is very strong and important to us.”
Steve Nash plays basketball what does he know?
