The FBI has interviewed City Hall employees and Chicago aldermen about U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez's ties to a corrupt developer, according to records and interviews that raise new questions about the congressman amid an ongoing federal investigation.
A former alderman convicted in the investigation told FBI agents that Gutierrez boasted of helping his longtime political supporter Calvin Boender obtain a lucrative zoning change for a development on the city's West Side. Another alderman told agents this year she thought Gutierrez was going to buy a home in the development.

He should know better than to put pressure on the emperor over immigration.
Corruption Ping.
Shady real estate deals? In Chicago? C’mon.
Why is it that the hardworking Hispanic culture supports the corrupt Hispanic politicians in this country? Are there no good Catholic Central American politicians in this country? I thought most of the Spanish-speaking world was Catholic and generally held to those principles better than most American Catholics.
With a little luck, Guiterrez will be sent back to his homeland -- Chicago.
Public posturing by Guiterrez himself, likely. Considering he's in Chicago, corruption = popularity. Though I'm not sure as to why he feels the need; his seat is as safe as they come.
The Catholic Church is a strong supporter of open borders, illegal immigrants, sanctuary, amnesty etc etc.
The church needs new members as the politicians need new voters. Combine that with employers needing cheap labor and the open borders will remain open.
I suppose that depends on the area. As a Catholic, I’ve taken issue with some of the sermons at my local church, but I’m usually in agreement with our parish ideologies.
Time to bust Rep. Gutierrez.
Rep. Luis Gutiérrez [D-IL4]

He was just arrested at the immigration protest. Maybe they can leave him in jail.
Also, how long before he plays the “race” card?
Just another tin can excellente!
U.S. Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-4th) actively fronted for now-indicted real estate developer Calvin Boender, and the relationship led to a personal loan and at least one real estate deal for Gutierrez, sources tell CBS 2.
Gutierrez allegedly squired Boender around City Hall and introduced him to aldermen. Those meetings led to discussions about potential development deals in various Chicago wards.
Boender was named in the federal grand jury indictment this week of Ald. Ike Carothers. It focused on their relationship, especially what each got from a multi-million-dollar rezoning scheme.
But the revelation that Carothers worked for a year with the FBI secretly recording conversations means the investigation may involve many more. Among insiders said to be worried is Gutierrez.
On Congressional letterhead stationery, Gutierrez asked Mayor Daley to support the Boender project that’s now central to the federal indictment.
Like many Chicagoans, he made big bucks buying and selling real estate, including a profit of about $176,000 on a townhome in this development on the Chicago River. The now-notorious fixer Tony Rezko was developer.
What was the benefit to Gutierrez for helping Boender? Sources say timely real estate investments in at least one Boender projects, tens of thousands in campaign cash and a $200,000 loan to the congressman.
shocking /s
It’s the Chicago Way.
The FBI should have a division that just investigates links between developers and elected officials. Too many politicians start out poor, spend their whole lives in government “service”, and retire rich. Magically a lot of the politicians and their families are involved in land deals. See Harry Reid, Rangel, and probably 60 to 90% of all other politicians. Even Obama got a sweet deal on his house and the “lot” next door that was contained within the fence for his house.
he wanted attention and now he is getting attention
Stories in BOTH the Trib and the Sun-Times! It won’t make it into the natinal press, though. The Press (editors even more than reporters) is made up of Racist Democrats who believe minority Democrats are stupid and need a lower bar in order to succeed. So they will bury the story and quietly pat themselves on their back for their own imagined “compassion.”
I lived in Cook County for 27 years, and to be frank, I would guesstimate that 80% of the politicians there are on the take. The whole back-room system is designed for maximum graft opportunity.
I once shook hands with Rahm Emanuel at a civic event, long before Hannity popularized the “dead fish” story, and my first thought was “am I shaking hands with a fish?” Limp and cold, icy cold.
