A failed car bomb smoked, popped and shut down Times Square, causing panic, evacuations and confusion Saturday on one of the tourist spot's busiest nights. Most of the streets in the area were reopened Sunday morning, though a heavy police presence remained in the area.
New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said officers are heading to a town in Pennsylvania to talk to a man who believes he may have recorded a bombing suspect on his video camera. Police are looking a for a white male in his 40s who was seen shedding a dark shirt with a red shirt underneath, he said at an afternoon press conference. Investigators are now looking through "hundreds of hours of surveillance videos," Mr. Kelly added.

I could swear in TX the engine was to be disabled via mangling or somesuch rendering the vehicle inoperable.
Odd, unless it was flooded?
The media is praising the cops. The real hero was the observant street vender who told them. The three cops in the area acted admirably once clued in, but without the citizen “first reporter” those first responders might have been too late.
Hi, Jim!
Pardon us while we try to figger out this terra attack.
So they investigated a suspected car bombing and found a loophole in the Cash 4 Clunkers program? That’s hilarious.
It was, at least it was for two of my kids that bought vehicles during the Clunkers porgram. Some kind of agent was poured into the fuel tank that permanently incapacitated the engine.
I think Brad is onto something with respect to the vehicle being obtained illegally, and why the salvage yard in CT might not be cooperative. It's possible that they should have had the vehicle, and/or that they resold it, illegally.
Yeah, me too ... these lawyers come up with all sorts of excuses for their clients crimes ...
I don't think so, because the bomb itself was described as "amateurish". If there had been lots of planning involved here, you'd have to assume they would have put more effort into making the bomb. Rather, this suggests to me that whoever may be responsible has some connection to the used car or salvage business directly or indirectly, because that part of the plan, unlike the rest of it, was done with considerable skill.
Yes, Brad is.
CT plates. There would be a C4C record for a Connecticut car going level 4 (adios, MOFO) salvage title in TX, wouldn’t there be? This you can search via TX DMV.
Okay...what’s yer answer?....LOL
Precisely.
It’s Obama’s fault©.
The President had a few duds at the Correspondets diner too.
Pray for America

NYPD: Video has possible SUV bomb suspect in alley
I find it interesting that the terrorist left 18-20 keys on the ring of keys in the ignition of the car.

That would be the most logical presumption, to be sure. Now, whether or not that "dealership" operated in a legitimate or completely above-board manner, is probably that is something that is yet to be determined.
The car wasn't reported stolen. One has to ask the question, why wouldn't a vehicle be reported stolen? Perhaps it shouldn't have been operable or even in existence? That of course begs the question, are there any other cars from this "dealership/scrap yard" that haven't been reported stolen, and may be out there waiting to go boom?
My guess is if this was a Clunkers car, Obama is going to do EVERYTHING he can to keep that little piece of information from leaking out.
Notice he’s giving the finger with his left hand.
It could very well be.
But you'd think they would keep the Pathfinder keys and discard the rest. Or this whole thing could be a White House disinformation operation with the bomb never meant to explode but the “evidence”—keys, vehicle, plates, locked metal box, meant to point toward some dirty white boys.
Interesting question.
Also, there is apparently no VIN number.
What is that pic about? That person isn’t a muslim even know it the shirt says otherwise.
They trace VINs in different places, depending on the manufacturer.......
Now, who is/are this/these incredibly stupid white lost-in-NY terrorist(s) that leave ~20 keys on the keychain from Kramers’ in the Pathfinder? That leave the flashers and engine on in a place you pay $5 dollars/hr to park in? While you fiddle with your electronics that are to set off
the propane and gasoline?
No wonder Kelly was imploring for leads. Not everybody is close with junkyard owners in CT, or anywhere.
