Hey Jerry, people who live in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.

Tend to your own problems before you dare to denounce the rest of us.

IF YOU CROSS THE U.S. BORDER ILLEGALLY YOU GET........North to South you get?

This depends on whether you're talking about entering the US illegally from Canada.

Hey, you in the funny hat.... Mahony, right? Don’t you have some altar boys to tend to?

If ever there was good reason to end the tax exemption for the church. Let them do with less pedophiles and they can pay for the illegals.

"It’s Mahoney, who’s about to be replaced altogether. "

----------------------------

Good to hear. He shouldn't be representing the Church, which would be the common perception.

Hey, Mahony, just be quiet and retire, okay?

Only simpletons equate Church teaching with prudential statements from apostates like Mahony.

Isn’t it time Mahoney was “honored” with a protest? Come on, people! Where is the outrage against this pederast protector???

I hope that’s correct and agree it probably is. At some point, though, one asks ; who appointed this guy?

What OTHER motive would Mahony have in defending illegals, other than to effectuate an increase in church members? There is no other reason why any church would get involved in this issue.

The man is an agent of a foreign government. He gets his orders from the Pope

Well he won’t be. Just ignore the MSM shilling him for all it’s worth before he’s out the door. You’ll be hearing them quote him plenty on it.

You are aware that Mahoney shills for gay people too? This, btw is why he’s getting shipped out.

Why is he against Church teachings? Because he gets attention and notoriety for sticking it to Benedict. He’s the Arlen Spectre of Catholic cardinals.

That would be Pope John Paul II. He was elevated in 1991.

“Mahoney’s replacement is Archbishop Jose Gomez of San Antonio. Somehow, I’m not convinced that he will be better than Mahoney in illegal immigration issues.”

So, you are basing the opinion solely on the fact that he was born in Mexico? You do understand that TX is a sea change from CA? Most hispanics in TX are against illegal immigration, which is completely different from hollywood liberals in CA.

We don't know yet about him, but from what I read, Archbishop Gomez is passionate about immigration issue.

Here is one of them, granted, from LA Times:

Gomez voiced his unequivocal support for immigration reform and said he wholeheartedly supported Mahony's advocacy for immigrant rights. Gomez spoke of his joy of coming to Los Angeles, which he said “like no other city in the world, has the global face of the Catholic Church.”

Gomez vows to be an advocate for L.A.'s immigrants, the less fortunate

(Of course, one can say "...but the Archbishop is talking about immigrants, not illegal immigrants.")

Again, I don't see why the interests of a religious organization has to be in line with the interests of the United States. They are institution of a very different nature whose interests are sometimes overlap, sometimes are not. We just need to recognize that and find the overlaps.

It’s the Times, I’ve heard quite the opposite.

I don’t trust the LA Times at all, especially not on this issue.

I’m going to wait and see.

True. I’m just contesting the argument that says the Catholic church supports illegal immigration. It doesn’t. The Church teaches that immigration is a legitimate use of the authority of the state, and that the Church has an obligation to respect the laws of the state wrt to immigration.
