Times Square Block Shut Down

NYPD closed off streets from 42nd to 47th along Broadway in New York City. Police shut down a block in the heart of Times Square Saturday night after receiving a call about a suspicious car fire, delaying some Broadway shows by more than an hour.

The call came in just after 6:30 and as of 9 p.m., 45th Street between Seventh and Eighth avenues had not been opened. When police initially responded, they saw smoke coming out of the car but no fire.

Police said a bomb squad investigation was on the scene and that the car on fire was a sport utility vehicle had license plates that didn't match the make of the car, raising suspicions.

On one of the theater district's busiest nights, some shows, including "The Lion King," were delayed by an hour or more, according to the Broadway World website.

Oprah Winfrey was in attendance of the new hit "Fela," being shown at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre on West 49th Street, and the production began on time and wasn't interrupted.

Also a possiblity due to the day this occurred:
1. An Illegal Immigrant due to the protests scheduled for today.
2. A Communist/Socialist or Anarchist due to it being May 1st.

They say to consider the suspect armed and dangerous and the order from the Chief of Police is read every few minutes to check all suspicious packages and vehicles.

They want the Police stations combed with a fine tooth comb and he says “all buildings” [?] , inside and out.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (BNO NEWS) — White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs on early Sunday released the following statement about the incident on Times Square.

“At about 1045 PM, the President was updated on the excellent work by the NYPD in relation to the incident in Times Square. The President commended the quick action by the NYPD and asked John Brennan to communicate to NYPD that the federal government is prepared to provide support. John Brennan, working with the NYPD and others, will continue to keep the President up to date on the investigation.”

Thanks, I thought of the same. In Chicago the local NBC station carried a story about May Day that marked it’s roots in Socialism, Communism, and Anarchism (and the Unions...).

Also a possiblity — someone protesting the Anti-Illegal Immigration Laws as was scheduled. I wonder if people were afraid it was going to get violent again and that’s why the turnout was so low?

Not saying it wasn’t Radical Islamic Terrorists, just that until they catch someone we won’t really know. I really hope they find the people responsible.

MSNBC now reported that security camera did record the card being parked at the location at about 6:30pm.

Better to scared and alive and not dead or injured. FNC is doing a good job tonight on this event, unlike some events of late.

President Barack Obama, who attended the annual dinner, praised the quick response by the New York Police Department, the White House said. He has also directed his homeland security and counterterrorism adviser, John Brennan, to advise New York officials that the federal government is prepared to provide support.

Brennan and others will keep Obama up to date on the investigation, the White House said.

Maybe it was parked for the AM crew, and some wiring burnt ahead of schedule. Why would some ‘muslim’ go running from the car? Did some Achmed call the wrong cell #, setting off something prematurely?

And how did we know he was muslim, again? Was he thanking Allah over and over as he fled?
