After Tareq and Michaele Salahi got through White House gates without invitations to a state dinner, guests had to bring a dinner ticket or printed invitation to attend dinner pre-parties at the Washington Hilton Hotel. Organizers said they were trying to cut down on crowds.

Didn’t he deliver the commencement address at UMich earlier in the day? Maybe he wanted to be sure to devote sufficient time to the briefing, rather than just doing a fly-over. (His handlers would surely have told him THAT wouldn’t convey an attentive attitude,) Hope the administration actually can DO something about this situation.

Hard to believe that BP, this gigantic specialist organi8zation in deep-sea drilling, doesn’t have a back-up plan for dealing with emergencies like this instead of just calling in a government. How many other deep-sea drilling rigs like this do they have going on the coast of the US? Around the world?

Well I caught the C-SPAN coverage of the WHCD this morning. It was painful for the most part... Zero wasn't remotely funny (Dubya had MUCH better comic timing than Zero has!), and Jay Leno was so-so. Overall, pretty dull. They took a lot of shots at Sarah Palin... no surprise there I guess.

Sen. Scott Brown, his wife and two beautiful daughters looked so glamorous on the red carpet! Greta was also there smiling away and greeting everyone who passed by...

I haven't heard back from any DC FReepers yet... I suspect there was no FReep there this year. (?)
