CHICAGO (May 1) -- Angered by a controversial Arizona immigration law, tens of thousands of protesters - including 50,000 alone in Los Angeles - rallied in cities nationwide demanding President Barack Obama tackle immigration reform immediately.
"I want to thank the governor of Arizona because she's awakened a sleeping giant," said labor organizer John Delgado who attended a rally in New York where authorities estimated 6,500 gathered.
From Los Angeles to Washington D.C., activists, families, students and even politicians marched, practiced civil disobedience and "came out" about their citizenship status in the name of rights for immigrants, including the estimated 12 million living illegally in the U.S. Protestors attend an immigration rally Saturday near the University of Michigan, where President Barack Obama was delivering the commencement address to graduating seniors
Police said 50,000 rallied in Los Angeles where singer Gloria Estefan kicked off a massive downtown march. Estefan spoke in Spanish and English, proclaiming the United States is a nation of immigrants.
"We're good people," the Cuban-born singer said atop a flatbed truck. "We've given a lot to this country. This country has given a lot to us."

60,000 illegals were there in spirit! LOL!
Cortez’s lesser-known brother Chip made it to South America.
Call Chet99 instead!
Obama loves America’s enemies.
Also third world diseases. TB is one of them for which many Americans have had to be tested because illegals are among us, in our schools, restaurants, neighborhoods, jails, etc.
Decrease in reported tuberculosis cases -- United States, 2009
Snip:
For 2009, a total of 11,540 tuberculosis (TB) cases were reported in the United States.
The TB rate in foreign-born persons was nearly 11 times higher than in U.S.-born persons.
Four states (California, Florida, New York, and Texas) reported more than 500 cases each for 2009. Combined, these four states accounted for half (50.3% [5,801]) of all TB cases in 2009.
Sleeping giant?
Hey, we still haven’t had the “white guys go on strike” day yet.
You know, the day when people die on the operating table. The day when planes fall out of the sky and whole city blocks burn to the ground.
That day.
“100,000 and only around 40,000 showed up.’ probably closer to 30K Funny, I live in AZ and I have heard nothing about any rallies in AZ. I am not sure they even had one....
And we want the Great Obama to come to the rescue of all those potential illegal Democrat Party votes. Go for it big dude ! Put Cap and Trade on the back burner. Demonstrate to the entire country just how politically corrupt DC has become. You will sell out your legal citizens for some illegal dope. That is precisely where DC needs to be. Finally the true nature of DC is out in the open for everyone to see.
Yep, they (whoever they are) were expecting 100-thousand protesters in downtown Dallas. The newspaper estimates 25-thousand showed up. It’s probably more like half that. The estimates on these types of demonstrations are almost always inflated. Whereas, attendance estimates for patriotic rallies like the tea parties, are almost always low-balled!
If the Tea Parties said they expected 100,000 and 50,000 turned out the msm would be laughing and calling it a failure.
The early planning was for an early Cinqo de Mayo that happened to fall on every commie’s favorite, May Day. All too cute. Then, AZ put that law into effect, so it became a pro-illegals affair.
Ah, his evil twin!
Hey, we still havent had the white guys go on strike day yet.

But it draws near.
The only flags I can see in those shots are solid red or the Mexican tricolor.
And your point is?
Darn right.
Accuracy. Although I understand the point being made.
Who said anything about South America?
A lot of countries have immigration laws that are FAR more strict than ours (even the documentation requirements for tourists are more strict in many countries).
Countries like Mexico, for instance. Read about their policy here.
