Again, did you not read what I posted??

You cite Lord Coke about Calvin’s Case, but it conveniently leaves off the part that the aliens in question were Scots, not random foreigners, immigrants or denizens. This was a naturalization law and not a redefinition of what it means to be natural born. This is why Wong was not declared and could not be declared natural born.

The birthplace of the parents of the candidate needs to be mentioned as well... although a real birth certificate would show that. But no one likes to bring that up as that is the reason Obama is not considered "natural born". Where he was born is simply a diversion. He could have been born in the Rose Garden and he still wouldn't be eligible, according to constitutional interpretations of said eligibility.

But whatever.

The bill should require proof of “Natural Born Citizenship” status, not birthplace proof. The Constitution requires the former, not the latter.

That's absolutely correct.

Hopefully, this key point will be brought up when the measure is taken up by the full legislature, and the language will be amended to state that future candidates for US president must show proof of NBC to get on the Texas ballot.

“...One presidential election too late...”

It would be nice if it could be made retroactive.

But what if “Governor” Bill White were to veto such a measure. The people of TX would be pleased, I suspect. And White trails Perry only by 4 points. Perry could go the way of GWB, unwanted even in TX.

"If there is a next "go round." I get the sense that Obama will not go meekly into the night."

Obama's wishes have nothing to do with it. His handlers will gladly throw him under the bus if and when he becomes too much of an embarrassment or liability to forwarding their agenda.

An interesting view. You don't think that he has ALREADY become too much of an embarrassment for just about everyone?

Have you heard Nat Hentoff speak about this? Nat Hentoff! Wow! Listen here to Steve Malzberg talk to Hentoff about Obama's commencement address at the University of Michigan beginning at the 19 minute mark.
