Laura Bush memoir claims president was poisoned at G8 summit
Guardian ^ | 04/28/2010 | Ed Pilkington

Posted on 04/28/2010 11:37:02 AM PDT by Responsibility2nd

The former first lady Laura Bush has opened a diplomatic can of worms by writing in her new book that she and her husband may have been poisoned during a state visit to a G8 summit in Germany in 2007.

The passage of Spoken From the Heart in which she discusses the incident amounts to the first time that the idea has been floated that George Bush's illness at the summit may have been the result of poisoning. The then US president succumbed to a stomach complaint, as did his wife and several members of their entourage, during a three-day meeting of world leaders in Heiligendamm.

The book is to be published early next month but a sneak preview of it was gained by the New York Times.

On Thursday 7 June 2008 the Bushes attended an official dinner at the summit along with other leaders of the industrialised countries that form the G8. The meeting at the Baltic Sea resort focused on the fight against Aids, malaria and other diseases affecting poor countries around the world.

The following morning the US president was reported sick and had to skip a couple of working sessions. Bush's adviser Dan Bartlett told reporters at the time that he was "very much under the weather", though his condition was "not serious".

"I'm not sure if it's a stomach virus yet or something like that, but he's just not feeling well in the stomach." up drinking.

I realize how much how objective information about your boy - the Obama enabler - irritate you.

Tough.

You’re just gonna have to deal with it.

Your post was completely irrelevant, and bore no relation to the thread. Why do you feel the need to be so off topic and silly?

I don't think I'm the one who needs to "deal with" anything.

btw, what you posted wasn't "objective information."

And George W. Bush is not a "boy."

Your hysterics make me feel important...and so right.

You’re right he’s not a boy...a boy I can forgive.

I should have called what he is: a spineless RINO and Obama enabler.

This ‘elenil’ individual isn’t worth your time . . . Judging from the sentence noted above, he/she is borderline illiterate (among other things).

BTW: THANK YOU for posting the photo from the article — what a beautiful couple, inside and out!!

LOL! Good point about the borderline illiterate thing. :)

And you're most welcome for the photo. Beautiful inside first, and then out. GOOD people.

I think it is pretty funny to call President Bush “spineless.” You may not like him, but spineless he isn’t!

I dislike him BECAUSE he was spineless. He caved on so many liberal and toxic issues. Maybe not caved—he actually supported them!

Shall I provide a partial list of the leftist causes he supported for you?

I'll name one:

Illegal Immigration - compassion for the illegals.

Oh ok one more:

Dubai Ports

But I notice that few people are as hyper about this as I am.

@@@@

I stopped dipping my fingers in the Holy Water font at the entrance to churches years ago.

Now I have to smile when the priest and communion servers go over to the alcohol-based hand sanitizer that is positioned on the door frame opposite the Holy Water holder after they have distributed the hosts and the wine and take a bit to wipe their hands.

She’s not a fool and wouldn’t say something frivolously.

Absolutely correct, there is NO way Laura Bush would say this unless she knew what she was talking about. And to add to that, I once had someone poison me and I knew right away it was not just "bad food" or in my case "bad coffee." Most of us have had food poisoning at some point, but to be poisoned by some foreign substance is a whole 'nother level of malfunction.

eleni, unfortunately believes that everything President Bush did that she didn't agree with was because he was a horrible, evil, spineless man.

She says this even though she sat at home at her computer typing, while he led the free world and kept us from another terrorist attack after 9/1, stood alone in supporting our troops and their mission in Iraq, supported the unborn as no previous President has ever done, and lived an entirely honorable life.

It is pretty funny.

horrible and evil - didn't say that...you are projecting again

spineless enabler of Obama - yes.

Since you seem unable argue about the actual spineless actions he took ... well maybe you can defend them!

Yes defend his record on immigration on Dubai on Compean and ramos on Kosovo on kissing up to Kennedy on expanding the debt to hysterical heights...on enabling this monster - joker to get into the WH. And on and on

It's not just about the unborn...he tried hard...not enough though. Conservatives dragged him kicking and screaming to nominate a conservative to the SC.

OK do you need to hold your nose to defend these things??...but at least try. Otherwise you are just plain silly...unworthy.

No but, I *use* to frequent this place and was usually the first one there.

The uuhh, *kitchen workers* were often finishing up their lunch when I arrived.

Perhaps I can’t hide the look on my face when I see who’s cooking my food. Who knows.

This didn't happen to be a Mexican rest. nor do they cook any Mexican dishes.

We live in the Austin, TX. area and have many really good Mexican places to eat. If this happens at any of these, I will go on a vendetta to have them investigated. I will use the Nanny-state in liberal Travis county to serve my wrath.

You may call him spineless because he didn't do as you wished on certain issues.

However, no one could ever convince me that President Bush is a spineless man. He took a stand on many issues and stood firmly---in spite of incredible criticism. He endured lies being spoken about him and horrible, vile, spiteful things said about him but stood firm in what he knew to be right.

ohioWfan is definitely neither silly nor unworthy. I don't understand how the point is made by calling her names.

There may be things about President Bush's record that ohio doesn't wish to defend---but there is certainly a great deal that is well-worth defending. OhioWfan does it as well as anyone I know.
