Jeb Bush speaks out against Ariz. law

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is speaking out against the new hard-line immigration law in Arizona, becoming the first prominent national Republican to do so.

"I think it creates unintended consequences," he said in a telephone interview with POLITICO Tuesday. "It's difficult for me to imagine how you're going to enforce this law. It places a significant burden on local law enforcement and you have civil liberties issues that are significant as well."

The measure, signed into law last Friday, would require police to check the immigration status of any individuals they reasonably suspect are illegal immigrants and arrest them if they can't prove legal status.

Bush said he understood the anger that prompted the bill, but that immigration should remain a federal issue.

Bushes & Rubio are RINOs. I am not voting for Crist but I am not voting for Rubio. Maybe a real conservative will enter the race in FL. Rubio and the Bushes are just like MCCain, Crist and Graham-nesty.

Bill McCollum is so much better than Rubio. Rubio’s lying on amnesty reminds me of Tony Montana in Scarface.

Translation: I’m scared to death over having to pass this in Florida.

But how could you tell an alien from a citizen? What papers would a citizen have to carry?

“that immigration should remain a federal issue.”

What a freak! Immigration is a federal issue. It is federal law.

My friend from Boca said he is well liked in Florida. I can see why. Say goodbye to any possible run for POTUS Jeb!

I know the GOP is beyond stupid, but you would think these people would at least have the common sense to keep their mouths shut.

Jeb Bush married a Hispanic woman and converted to Catholicism. So now he thinks he's an illegal alien.

Not the Bushes. Like Obama, they are elitists who believe they know better than mere mortals.

"I know the GOP is beyond stupid, but you would think these people would at least have the common sense to keep their mouths shut."

These are politicians who plan on keeping involved in politics in their future.

Rubio's parents are Cuban refugees & Jeb is married to a Mexican.

That should clarify why they won't keep their mouths shut.

Quite a difference between AZ and FL. There's more sympathy for illegals in FL because many of them were/are fleeing a rotten communist regime (remember how many conservatives were on Elian Gonzales' side for example).

AZ is a difference scenario.

What the hell for? Aren’t there enough comic books out there that this guy is spouting his philosphies? Bush I and Bush II were like two peas in a pod philosophically. Why on earth would we want to listen to another one?

Bush said he understood the anger that prompted the bill, but that immigration should remain a federal issue.

Just as stupid as the rest of the bushes. The bill was born of necessity not "anger." Do all these pansies take a class somewhere that teaches them to discount their opponents by labelling them "angry?" AFAIC Jeb Bush is now exposed as a patsy liberal until proven otherwise.

And stupid. The bill isn't about "immigration" einstein, it is about cross-border trespass and smuggling into the State of Arizona.
