Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush is speaking out against the new hard-line immigration law in Arizona, becoming the first prominent national Republican to do so.
"I think it creates unintended consequences," he said in a telephone interview with POLITICO Tuesday. "It's difficult for me to imagine how you're going to enforce this law. It places a significant burden on local law enforcement and you have civil liberties issues that are significant as well."
The measure, signed into law last Friday, would require police to check the immigration status of any individuals they reasonably suspect are illegal immigrants and arrest them if they can't prove legal status.
Bush said he understood the anger that prompted the bill, but that immigration should remain a federal issue.

But that’s the power the state of Arizona is giving every cop, deputy, etc. If you want to stay on the good side of the law, you’ll need to carry your driver’s license, social security card, passport & birth certificate. And if the cop thinks those are forgeries you are going to go to jail until it’s all clear.

She spent some time tonight talking about it on Hannity - she supports the law. She also mentioned a pathway to citizenship, which made me cringe.

Mexican immigration rules!
There are many things wrong with Mexico, but there is at least one area in which Mexico is clearly better than the United States. That is its immigration laws. Mexican immigration laws are practically everything that conservatives could want. An article by J. Michael Weller in Human Events details their policies:

in the country legally; have the means to sustain themselves economically; not destined to be burdens on society; of economic and social benefit to society; of good character and have no criminal records; and contributors to the general well-being of the nation.

I am with you on that.
I heard Brit Hume on this on FOX. The law only allows the Cops to check citizenship in the event the individual has some kind of “contact” presumably regarding an offense - with the law.
That makes it a good law all around.
The libs and Dems are grand-standing and race baiting as usual.

I think Bush II, like his Daddy and like a lot of politicians in BOTH parties, are inherently globalists.
They feel that the world of the future is one with a one-world government and one world free trade zone. Having labor being free to cross borders as well as trade goods, is, in their opinion, a positiive thing. To them the cultural and historical uniqueness of America is lost as they view reality primarily through economic eye-glasses.
I think his connections with big business, the oil cartel,etc, augmented or generated his views.

Agreed, but I find a Romney win unlikely. More conservatives will vote 3rd party or stay home than when McCain ran. McCain did have Palin, and Romney has Romneycare.
