Arizona's Act of Vengeance (liberal has a hissy fit over new SB1070 law)
RealClearPolitics ^ | 4/27/2010 | Eugene Robinson

Arizona's draconian new immigration law is an abomination -- racist, arbitrary, oppressive, mean-spirited, unjust. About the only hopeful thing that can be said is that the legislation, which Republican Gov. Jan Brewer signed Friday, goes so outrageously far that it may well be unconstitutional.

Brewer, who caved to xenophobic pressures that previous governors had the backbone to resist, should be ashamed of herself. The law requires police to question anyone they "reasonably suspect" of being an undocumented immigrant -- a mandate for racial profiling on a massive scale. Legal immigrants will be required to carry papers proving they have a right to be in the United States. Those without documentation can be charged with the crime of trespassing and jailed for up to six months.(snip)

...the new immigration law isn't a solution at all. It's more like an act of vengeance. The law makes Latino citizens and legal residents vulnerable to arbitrary harassment -- relegating them to second-class status

When the name calling starts, you know that you have hit a nerve.

This "reporter" doesn't mask his bias with facts, just leaps directly into the fight and starts throwing excrement.

Typical liberal.

I like the word, “draconian.”

The only thing that has happened is that Arizona has codified an already existing federal statute with the intent to enforce it...since the feds won’t enforce it themselves. I suppose in the author’s twisted logic, adherence to and enforcing the law makes one’s actions “draconian.”

I wonder if he read it? (I know the answer to that). The law is mostly a regurgitation of Federal Law already on the books but not enforced.

“The law makes Latino citizens and legal residents vulnerable to arbitrary harassment “

When was Terry v Ohio dismissed? I must have missed that.

The media meme has already been set. Facts do not matter.

This is a cheap and easy outrage du jour for the leftists in the media to gin up outrage in an election year, and it was EXACTLY WHAT THE RADICAL DEMS PLANNED for this summer.

Just wait until the May Day LaRaza demonstrations.

"The Big Lie" in this case:

The law requires police to question anyone they "reasonably suspect" of being an undocumented immigrant

EVERY SINGLE LIBERAL WRITER AND ARTICLE goes out of its way to ignore the phrase that immediately precedes "reasonably suspect": that phrase is "legal contact", and it means the cops have already pulled you over for something else.

"About the only hopeful thing that can be said is that the legislation, which Republican Gov. Jan Brewer signed Friday, goes so outrageously far that it may well be unconstitutional."

A perfect example of how the modern American left has reverence for the Constitution only when they can use it to destroy this country and her bedrock culture. Eugene Robinson is a bigot, a Marxist demagogue, and a duplicitous piece of human trash.

You left out "While Promoting Global Warming".

And "hatemongers". Need that in there. A comparison to Hitler would be apropos, as well.

“About the only hopeful thing that can be said is that the legislation, which Republican Gov. Jan Brewer signed Friday, goes so outrageously far that it may well be unconstitutional.”

From the Constitution of the United States of America:

Tenth Amendment: reserves to the states respectively, or to the people, any powers the Constitution did not delegate to the United States, nor prohibit the states from exercising.

Same big lie principle when someone proposes a bill that says you can’t crush a baby’s skull to abort it on the day before it’s due

and the left screams out about cases of “woman’s reproductive choices” and “rape, incest, and woman’s health”, etc.

Reasonable suspicion is the generally accepted level of suspicion for conducting all police investigations. I don't think you are going to see any police pulling over cars for immigration checks.

What I want to see is the first time police have to serve a warrant on a bad guy and cart his whole family away. That will be the start of putting a stop to a lot of crime in Arizona.
