Iran to obtain uranium from Kenya

APRIL 2001 : (ZIMBABWE : UN SECRETARY GENERAL KOFI ANNAN'S SON INVOLVED IN COMPLETION OF HARARE AIRPORT) Even with Zimbabwe caught up in the kind of political strife that sees its own people starving, the contract to build the new Harare airport was going to make somebody rich. Estimated to cost Z$5 billion, by the time of its completion in April of 2001, the airport terminal had cost Z$7 billion.
Kojo Annan, Kofis youngest son, only 26 years of age at the time, served on the AHT board with [Hani] Yamani, with whom he was also negotiating the sale of two million barrels of oil in 2001, in the same timeframe the airport project was coming to an end.
In Harare, President Mugabe was being linked to the payment of unauthorized commissions during construction of the airport. As the project was about to wrap up, serious rifts were also developing between AHT, the main contractor and local representatives and government officials. Before it was over, the airport project had become a tale of cronyism that leached all the way back to over to Manhattans United Nations via Kofi Annans son Kojo, Mugabes nephew, Leo and Yamani, the jet-setting son of the famous and powerful former Saudi oil minister, Sheikh Ahmed Yamani. It all added up to a powder keg waiting for the strike of a match.

Speaking of Uganda-
* Uganda, Iraqi diplomat FALLAH HASSAN AL RUBDIE & Allied Democratic Forces aka ADF :
BAGHDAD--Saddam Hussein's regime was linked to an African Islamist terrorist group, according to intelligence papers. The documents provide the first hard evidence of ties between Iraq and religious terrorism. Secret dossiers detailing the group's discussions with the Iraqi Intelligence Service were found in the spies' Baghdad headquarters, among the detritus of shredding. The papers show how an Iraqi diplomat in Nairobi, Fallah Hassan Al Rubdie, was in discussion with the Allied Democratic Forces, a Ugandan guerrilla group with ties to other anti-Western Islamist organizations. While the United States has long argued that Saddam's regime was aiding Islamist groups, it has struggled until now to provide evidence. ---------- "Papers connect Iraqi spies to African terrorist group," BY PHILIP SMUCKER AND ADRIAN BLOMFIELD, Chicago Sun-Times, April 18, 2003

Oh what fools.
What a perfect target for Israel. No one gives a damn about Zimbabwe but the message/warning is sent loud and clear, and at the same time an attack down there does nothing to stoke the nationalist fervor in Iran that Ahmadinejad is trying to foment. And finally there are no serious airspace issues to deal with. So wherever it is the Zimbubus mine their uranium I sure as hell wouldn't want to be the nightwatchman.

What does Joe Wilson have to say about this ( sarc / off ).....
I had a feeling their was more than one country in Africa that may have been supplying some form of raw or processed material.
That is why the whole Joe Wilson thing frosted me, he may have been looking in the wrong country and GWB, Cheney and Company couldn't come out and say it and the dumb @$$ press couldn't think critically enough to ask it or let go of their bias not to bash Bush!

This is interesting. Iran owns a 15% stake in one of the largest uranium mines in Southern Africa, Rossing out of Namibia. Not sure why they need anything from Zimbabwe or Uganda.
To: sofaman
Maybe James Cameron can make an allegorical film about evil Iran mining and plundering the beautiful, unspoiled, virginal natural state and exploiting the noble savages, all for the power to be gained from a rare mineral.
