The effort to enact climate and energy legislation this year suffered a critical blow Saturday when Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.), the key Republican proponent of the bill, said he was unwilling to move ahead because of Democrats' push for immigration reform.
The move forced the other two authors of the bill, Sens. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.), to cancel a news conference planned for Monday that would have unveiled the climate and energy plan they negotiated with Graham, the only Republican who had been participating in the discussions.
In an interview Saturday, Graham said he did not see how the Senate could pass any climate and energy bill this year if Senate Democratic leaders and President Obama pushed for immigration reform, as they suggested they would last week.
"The political environment that we needed to have a chance [to pass the bill] has been completely destroyed" by the push for immigration, Graham said...

He bailed on one!
Saved his political career by just a hair.
Sen. Graham threatens to halt work on climate and energy bill (Grahamnesty tries to save McCain)
Too little, too late. He can say whatever he wants. He will never be acceptable.
So what’s he gonna do on immigration?
Well, I’ll be damned! Is he trying to show some ‘nads?
Lindsay doesn’t want immigration “reform” to rear its ugly head this year because McLame is running for re-election. Once McLame is safely back in for another term, Lindsay will be back to support this turd AND amnesty.
Behold the Power of the Tea Party.
This is a surprise but very good news.
If the socialists don't get the illegal's vote, they're toast. If they do...
His ass is still grass next election, because he CAN'T BE TRUSTED TO VOTE CONSERVATIVE.
Grahamnasty ping!
Thanks for the link.

Too late for both, they need to retire.
Scott Brown or one of the Maine twins will vote for this POS though. But Graham’s decision does buy some time to mobilize against it.
I’m beginning to think that this guy has some serious psychological problems. He has no central principals other than this posture will get me attention. He needs to be seen as very powerful, as in this instance where he wants to be seen as the guy who can make this happen or not.
He loves to hear himself talk and talks at length, tending always toward the dramatic rather than the reasonable and sensible.
Drama queen, needy of attention, self-aggrandizing. There is something wrong with him beyond just the usual RHINO accusation.
I don’t buy anything this guy says.
No Guts he did not say he was for a investigation of climate gate. He only said there was to much going on. Total BS and he still needs to be held accountable.
