Graham withdraws support for climate legislation
Washington Post ^ | April 25, 2010 | Juliet Eilperin

The effort to enact climate and energy legislation this year suffered a critical blow Saturday when Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (S.C.), the key Republican proponent of the bill, said he was unwilling to move ahead because of Democrats' push for immigration reform.

The move forced the other two authors of the bill, Sens. John F. Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joseph I. Lieberman (I-Conn.), to cancel a news conference planned for Monday that would have unveiled the climate and energy plan they negotiated with Graham, the only Republican who had been participating in the discussions.

In an interview Saturday, Graham said he did not see how the Senate could pass any climate and energy bill this year if Senate Democratic leaders and President Obama pushed for immigration reform, as they suggested they would last week.

"The political environment that we needed to have a chance [to pass the bill] has been completely destroyed" by the push for immigration, Graham said...

Saved his political career by just a hair.

Au contraire, I feel quite sure that impartial news sources such as CNN and NYT will shortly be publishing quite a bit of personal information about the Senator (all in the public interest, of course, not that there's anything wrong with that, etc) that will end his career.

When you're blackmailed, you have to keep paying.

Lindsay doesn’t want immigration “reform” to rear its ugly head this year because McLame is running for re-election. Once McLame is safely back in for another term, Lindsay will be back to support this turd AND amnesty.

Bingo. Mizz Lyndsey's just doing whatever it takes to help his main squeeze, Jack. Cue Tammy Wynette's "Stand by your man."

"The political environment that we needed to have a chance [to pass the bill] has been completely destroyed" by the push for immigration, Graham said.

So they will 'promise' him that they won't push for immigration. Graham will sign back on, help pass the climate bill, and then the dems will push for immigration. Graham will protest vigorously, but vote for the bill.

Came to his senses?

Did you read his statement? He said the reason he was backing out from teaming with the Democrats, (his real party) was because they were concentrating on passing immigration & Amnesty instead of “Climate Change”.

This is nothing more than a pouting, Democrat-grandstanding-attention-whore move. The point is, he would side with them on either issue during any session.

The Democrats also see the Demographics and have decided they need those immigrants to help create a permanent one party Government. Why else would Pelosi parade around the Tea Party crowd at the Capital and taunt them with her gavel? They have had this up their sleeve from the start and it is evident by their arrogance and outright defiance of the Public majority.

Some here also said that about Obamacare. And we lost instead.

Considering where the “climate” hucksters were a year ago, and where they are now, we’re winning. Overwhelmingly.

It's true we are winning in the arena of public opinion, but the Democrats do not care about that fact. They will pass this legislation the same way they did Obamacare, by Reconciliation. They will “deem” it into law if they have to. And they will before the year is out.

They well may. But in the end, the American people are more powerful than the politicians.

And American politicians who ignore public opinion are digging holes under their own feet with a noose around their neck.

Drama queen, needy of attention, self-aggrandizing. There is something wrong with him beyond just the usual RHINO accusation.

Maybe he really is a homo.

Just being a typical RINO either way. Totally useless to depend on them.
