Mississippi ping
Praise the Lord, you’re here!
I trust that your sons and their families are all okay too?
I don’t want to post their names.
We were not sure exactly where our 9 year old grand son was for about 2 hours becasue we had no way to communicate.
He was and is fine, As far as I know I don’t know anyone who was hurt. Thanks for everyone’s concern and prayers. My power
has been in and out most of the day.
Somerset, KY Tornado Warning:
I was living in Texas when the ‘89 tornado came through. We moved here in ‘92 and when I was working at Boeing back then and someone brought in a photo album of the pictures with all the damage and the cars and trucks with HUMONGOUS “X’s” spray painted on them signifying they had been searched for victims or survivors and we were living just a little south of Airport back then. WHOA baby I was shocked. At the time, I thought tornado alley was in West Texas up through OK & KS and NOT here. Boy was that an eye opener.
Oh dear. Those had to be the longest two hours of your life! Such devastation in your area, and dear Haley was almost in tears, but handling everything again, just like he did during Katrina. You had a lot of prayers from your friends here and I am truly relieved and happy that you have checked-in!!!! I hope your power stays on. It’s awful to be without it and you’ll want to see the 10:00PM news (I think).
I take it you and yours didn’t suffer any damage to your homes either? When I heard Satartia and remembered that road to YC...yikes.
Things seems to be pretty calm now unless they fire back up. We’ve lost our internet connection off & on all day.
For now, looks like we escaped the worst of it. Poor Mississippi, prayer to the families and those that were lost and those that have lost everything.
Magnolia, I promised to ping you when WKB checked-in.
Praise the Lord, he has!!!
Any news from your mom in Meridian?
This system ran through central TX 5-6pm yesterday, and I saw something I’d never seen before. I heard the hail coming, and when it fell it was not round balls of random size, it was coin-shaped discs of random size that melted pretty much on impact.
Never seen that, ever, in decades. Only BBs, dimes, nickels, quarters, half dollars, baseball, softball, etc spherical.
Just making a note... something I’ve never seen.
10:00PM news:
10 killed, 45 injured.
hopefully you’re all safe now .. but for future reference, the aforementioned earthquake survival advice included how to instantly turn off gas coming into your home .. which would be pretty critical.
Thanks so much onyx. Just got to see that WKB has checked in! Many prayers have been answered!
So far all is OK in Meridian with my family. What about DC2K? Does she still have family in the area?
It was really scary. I had many friends who lost their houses with that outbreak. Another friend and her three kids were almost sucked out their car windows.
I was living in Stevenson at the time. Stevenson is north on 72 past Scottsboro. The same tornado system had a twister go through our next door neighbor’s property. We were totally untouched.
I find tornados the most terrifying weather phenomena.
I think Auburn is clear now. I’m heading to bed.
Take Care and get a good nights rest. I remember when I was expecting and weather was fine, went to doctor for checkup and weather turned ugly while in Huntsville for my checkup. Coming back home to Hazel Green, the sirens starting going off, it was raining harder than I had ever seen in my life, I was EIGHT months pregnant, they say on the radio there is a tornado spotted at Memorial Parkway & University, I’m about 1 mile north, THEN they say another has been spotted near the Winn Dixie in Meridianville about 8 miles or so north of me . . . one in front one in back and my 2 1/2 year old asleep in her car seat, me very pregnant and my foot literally shaking on the gas pedal and praying all the way home. They tell you to go lay in a ditch, yea right, they are full with rushing raging red muddy water, with a toddler and pregnant, I don’t think so. Ever since that scary day, I know most of the churches on my daily travels around town with the kids and would go knocking on the door for shelter from the storm and pray that someone was there. :)
Me, too Meg! Praying HARD for all in harm’s way!
My God in Heaven!
It looks like a giant snake sticking its tongue out!
That is an incredible photo, it shows the Evil as it begins to consume.
Hey guys. Posting from my Droid. Cable tv and internet access still out. Storm passed right over Casa NerdDad with no damage other than taking out cable service in the area.
