Sarah Palin testified Friday against a 22-year-old man accused of hacking into her e-mail account, saying later it's up to the judge to decide whether he should serve prison time if convicted.
Palin testified that the hacking compromised one of the main ways she communicated with her family back in Alaska as she campaigned in 2008 as the Republican vice presidential candidate. Outside the courthouse, when asked whether she thought community service was punishment enough rather than prison, she said, "That's up to the judge."
Former University of Tennessee student David Kernell faces up to 50 years in federal prison if convicted of identity theft, mail fraud and two other felony charges. His lawyer has called the case a prank, not a crime.

Plastering peoples phone numbers so they can be harassed and threatened, yeah that is some kind of prank isnt it.
No problem... 50 years in the slammer will only be a prank, too ... LOL ...
2 days oughta do it.
Yeah... two days for a sentence and the other 49 years for a "prank" ... doncha know ... LOL ...
I’d like to see this guy get reamed in the pokey by some guy named Molly..he can say “Hey David, bend over, and get ready for the prank that’s coming”
Throw the book at him. Maybe a few lefty loons might think twice before breaking the law.
If he gets the maximum 50 years, I will not shed one tear for this punk.
Too bad Watergate took place before "foiling" became the prank of choice...
You really believe that? That he deserves to be raped?
Of course not -- not any more than Palin deserved to have her e-mail hacked.
BUT, it will happen nonetheless... and I won't be wringing my hands over it ... I'll just say, "Perhaps you should have been thinking more clearly when 'hacking' away at the Palin account. Then you wouldn't have been here in the first place."
The same people would scream bloody murder if someone did it to them.
Sure enough... for those liberals, it's no big deal if they do it to conservatives and/or Chritians. If they do that... "it's just a joke" doncha know.
If it happens to a liberal -- "It's a crime!" [and that's the one time they'll accept the death penalty...]
Made the mistake of using my real name and e-mail address.
Hoo-boy! The Internet is a nasty place for doing that... :-)

Yeah..., the funny thing about "life" is that it has a way of turning your own sentiment -- back on yourself... (as he will probably find out with the "pranks" in prison that will be pulled on him... doncha know ...).
Sarah gave a press interview leaving the courthouse. At the end of the vid you can see she has lots of security. Nice.

I got it the first time. Takes the funny out of the humour if you have to spell it out every time. Some posters are humour-impaired.
Why do you assume any act of prison-faciliated passion between the perp and his bunkmate wouldn’t be consensual?
Why do you assume any act of prison-faciliated passion between the perp and his bunkmate wouldnt be consensual?
Oh... no, I didn't intend to mean it was consensual... I just meant that they like to "play pranks" in prison too... so he should find himself quite "at home" there with the other "pranksters" doncha know.... LOL ...
I think 50 years would be a bit harsh, BUT where is the remorse? Has the guy even apologized to Sarah? His lawyer seems to think the whole thing is a joke.
How bout the guy begs for mercy and shows some real remorse!!!
All crackers think that their crimes are just a prank.
.
I suspect the trial outcome will not please the NPR folks.
If the judge in TN is what I expect, Kernell will not want to come before him again.
His father is a Dem Pol, so I doubt they will throw the book at him. But this is not a trivial offense.
I think the issue for the jury will be intent to harm. For the FBI is suspect it will be that he offered cooperation and then renigged.
We shall see.
NPR?
Not Particularly Relevent?

It is questionable....reverse positions and the son of a right wing politician and they would have been screaming ‘racist militia’. Just hypocrites, all day long! Not a word about the political background of these people and how they hated Palin. That is the motivation, that is the MENS REA, the criminal intent. Yet not a word.
“This wasnt a prank. If he gets jail time, so be it.”
Under standard sentencing guidelines he will get 32 years.
