The judge presiding over former Gov. Rod Blagojevich's corruption trial called an emergency meeting Thursday evening after information that was intended to remain under seal was released to the public in a defense filing to subpoena President Barack Obama.
Judge James B. Zagel scheduled a 6 p.m. hearing in his chambers to question attorneys about why the redacted information was readable, according to reports.
But Blagojevich's attorneys denied that interpretation. When asked whether the meeting concerned the redacted documents, attorney Sheldon Sorosky responded simply "no."
The defense motion, filed Thursday afternoon, request to call President Obama as a corroborating witness and argued that Obama could verify that Blagojevich didn't try to sell his seat.
The filing contained several paragraphs that had been blacked out electronically. However, the underlying text was easily viewable in the electronic cersion of the document if a reader simply copied-and-pasted the paragraphs into another program.
The failure to properly redact is a relatively common one in government circles.
I have wondered why Zero and Ms. Zero had to surrender their Law licenses. Guess we have a clue now.
You’re counting on the Daley Machine still being behind Obama. I wouldn’t be so sure about that. Obama has ticked off WAY too many people... Some of my other speculative posts on this thread (including the ties between Obama, Rezko and the mob - part of the subpoena funny enough) may be of interest to you all. Granted, this is mostly speculation, but I would NOT count on them risking it all to protect Obama.

An alternate theory I put forth was exactly as you said. Biden as Pres., Hillary as Vice (if Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are indicted). Byrd is just too old and sick to count, frankly.

If his popularity was 65% and not 44% vaguely liking him, this may come off differently...but you may very well be right on that basis alone, as well as the facts.

I am innocent of trying to sell Obama’s seat because that would mean that Obama was guilty of trying to purchase the seat. Obama will testify that he is not guilty of trying to purchase the seat so if there was never going to be a purchase then how could there ever be a sale?
It is typical Chicago thug politics and Obama should be in a jail cell right along with Blago and Rezko.

You may be right and I hope you are. Michael Savage thinks Rahm is pissed off at O. I had always heard that Chicago’s real money and power were the exchanges - CBOE and CME. The real power is Irish-Catholics and Jews at the exchanges. I think the market suprise in the late summer of 2008 was cooked up at the CBOE and CME.
The CME does trade credit default swaps among other things. This was helped by the hedge fund thugs who are major Dem contributors.
The Italian mob was big in Capone’s day but I do not think they are a power in Chicago.
Rahm Emmanuel says “I think I’ll run for mayor of Chicago” then a few days later this subpoena gets leaked?
Makes sense. When I read that Rahm wanted to be Mayor, my fist instinct was that it would not sit well with Daley. Hubris I thought.

Would value your opinion as to the various speculative theories I’ve put forth on the thread - particularly as they apply to Obama & the Daley Machine. What’s the word on the street there re: Rahm’s decision to perhaps run for Mayor?
As I said in the thread — I grew up in Cook County, and am basing my speculations on the things I saw growing up, and such. If I’m totally off-base and if things have changed that much since I was there (late-90s), then please feel free to correct me... :)
