One of the most controversial families in the country is heading south to protest "rebellious brats," a Jewish publication and an indie rock festival.

.Topeka's Westboro Baptist Church, whose membership consists mostly of family members of its pastor, Fred Phelps, has planned nine protests around the metro Atlanta area on May 5-6. The small Kansas group, known for picketing the funerals of U.S. soldiers and its antipathy toward homosexuals, will protest at Grady, Druid Hills and Douglass high schools, the Jewish Georgian and a Cinco de Mayo rock festival in Alpharetta, among other locations.
"These perverts have a platform God has given them to enfluence [sic] this nation," the Westboro group wrote in one of its tamer dispatches. "They should be using their position to teach obedience to God's standards, not disobedience!"

These people (allegedly, I think they are demons) Westboro Baptist church, make me sick. I think if I ever saw them in person, I’d get arrested for assault.
May God zot them all.
The group is nothing more than a bunch of lawyers, who will sue anybody for the slightest provocation, at the drop of the hat. I'm pretty sure that's how they're financed.
I know I wouldn't get upset to hear about how they were clubbed like baby seals.

That’s where jury nullification comes in. No jury or judge should award these clowns anything above one penny, ever.
They can sue all they want but someday they are going to meet someone who has nothing to lose.
Where the hell does this group get the money to travel all over the way they do?
How can they be the most controversial?
Everyone from Glen Beck to Van Jones agrees they are a worthless bunch of idiots. That is the definition of a non-controversy.
I’m just wondering where the bounds are concerning free speech? Or what amounts to free speech in their case. I think it borders on incitement to riot which is not protected.
A judge recently ordered the father of a slain Marine whose funeral they “protested” to pay their court costs when he lost his case. A fund was started to help him out.
That judge should be run off the bench in my opinion.
Baptists are showing them selves to be a disgusting force in American politics. Are Baptists really this evil?
Baptists are the denomination of hate.
Things that make you go... "hmmmmmm"....
Really? Kinda like everyone named "Bert" are all jerks? C'mon...
...they pay no taxes...
“Baptists” aren’t organized under a single head as Catholics are. There is no way to stop anyone from using the name.
They hope they can provoke someone into doing something for which they can sue.
If ignored long enough, they will go away and they will be bankrupt...just like their souls.
We allow no gray here..... Black or White. The article says Baptists. That is all inclusive.
All Islam is condemned for evil radicalism. Doesn’t it follow that all Baptists are haters too?
You and i both know they are not true Baptists.
If you just came here just to insult Baptists, you came to the wrong forum.
notice they leave Muslims alone....
