The battle over the venture -- dozens of public hearings and nine years long -- has split members of American Indian tribes and pitted some of the nation's wealthiest people against each other. Liberals have squared off against fellow liberals. The most notable opponent was the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, whose family compound would have a view of the wind farm.
The late Walter Cronkite also raised objec

It’s about rich people’s views.
We can afford fossil fuels! Let the little people look at them!
Yeah, a wind farm 20 MILES off shore.
Put these damned things in the back yard of some little plebeian! But don’t you DARE think about spoiling the view of we the IMPORTANT people.
The American public!
The liberal’s dilemma; “The world’s just gotta be perfect-especially the part I live in!”
I love this fight.
Highlights the total hypocrisy of the denizens of these expensive properties - Wall Streeters, Politicians and assorted do gooders who would mandate salt bans for us all, but don’t want their pretty seaviews marred by windmills.
And property values. As well as yachting issues.
I’m enjoying the thought Teddy ‘Drown Em!’ Kennedy and Walter ‘I lied about Tet’ Cronkite are cussing up a storm wherever they are today...
And it couldn’t have been put in a better spot - what with all the hot air blowing out to see from onshore.
I’ll probably get flamed, but wind farms are ugly. I drive across Wyoming from time to time on I-80. I’m weird, but I find a beauty in the big empty. Now these wind mills are all over the place. It’s ugly. Give me a good old coal, gas fired, or nuclear plant. They’re reliable and compact.
ugly AND ineffective.
ugly AND ineffective
Yep, but they make the kids feel good.
Leftists vs. leftists.
I doubt if there’s anyone left on Cape Cod who isn’t a leftist.
If they ever caught a conservative hanging around there, they’d probably impale him to put an end to his carbon emissions.
They are ugly but somehow compelling. When I drive by one it’s like I can’t look away. Hypnotic, Quixotic...a certain undefined train wreck quality, perhaps. Ah, well....fine with me if they spray disemboweled seagull parts all over the Kennedy Compound.
No flames from me.
Here in Michigan, Consumers energy wants a 60,000 acre wind farm with between 40 and 70 windmills of 4 and 5 hundred feet tall. Something like that will be visible over an area of hundreds of square miles.
I’ll nake a nice compact coal plant sitting behind a grove of trees on a couple hundred acres any day.
In other words, over the horizon, correct?
