Lieberman, Collins serve Obama administration with Ft. Hood subpoenas By Jordan Fabian - 04/19/10 03:58 PM ET
The Senate Homeland Security Committee Monday issued subpoenas to the Obama administration regarding the shooting at Ft. Hood last year.
Chairman Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) and ranking Republican Susan Collins (Maine) had threatened to subpoena the administration by Monday after repeated requests to release records on the shooting, which left 13 dead.
The purpose of the Committees investigation of the Fort Hood attack is to answer questions that are critical to our governments ability to counter homegrown terrorism, the senators wrote in a letter accompanying the subpoenas. "In order to answer those questions, we must assess the information that the U.S. Government had prior to the attack and the actions it took in response to that information."
The subpoenas indicate a major rift between Lieberman and the Obama administration, who caucuses with the Democrats.
Democratic leaders have indicated they do not intend to recind his chairmanship due to the subpoena.
The senators have accused the administration of stalling a congressional probe in the shooting. They say the departments of defense and justice have turned down four requests for documents over the course of five months.
Lieberman and Collins want suspected shooter Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan's personnel file and records on his efforts to contact radical Yemeni cleric Anwar al-Awlaki.
The senators say in the letter that the administration has until next Monday to reply to the request to "fulfill their legal obligation."
The Pentagon has pushed back against the request, saying it does not want to reveal sensitive information about the incident, which is still being investigated.
0bama, for covering up terrorism committed against the United States by one of his muslim brothers. Duh.
Glad it isn’t too much
“The Pentagon has pushed back against the request, saying it does not want to reveal sensitive information about the incident, which is still being investigated.”
Doesn’t the Senate have the security clearance for this information? I mean even if it was very sensitive, it doesn’t mean it has to be blabbed about.
They are trying to configure the evidence in the least harmful light. They want to deflect from the fact that the Army, through its officers in the chain of command, knew full well that he was a mental case. Alas, none dare report it because to do so would possibly harm a minority (Muslim) officer and would definitely destroy the reporting officer’s career.
That was my first thought. Don't forget that an innocent baby died as well.
That is absolutely correct. I wish swift justice on this murdering muslim trash.
My thoughts exactly.
And yet this is the same media elite that looks down their noses at us...and they can't even write at the 5th grade level.
Collectively the media is not "Smarter Than a Fifth Grader".
"I coulda' been TV a reporter...'specially with my nice "Sideshow Bob" hair-do."
“Democratic leaders have indicated they do not intend to recind his chairmanship due to the subpoena.”
Morons - wouldn’t put it past them to do that.
“14 dead. one woman was pregnant.”
Truth. But it depends if you’re talking to a RAT whether they’ll acknowledge that or not.
“The subpoenas indicate a major rift between Lieberman and the Obama administration”
Let’s not forget that Lieberman campaigned for McCain...:)
“At least the DOJ did not characterize him as a person of interest.”
DOI - Department of Injustice!
“Obama is still trying to connect Hasan with the Tea Baggers.”
So Hussein’s trying to connect Hasan with the Tea Baggers...? :):)
Shredders must be in high gear at the Regime’s Headquarters.
The rift between the Obama administration and Lieberman has more to do with the Obama administration’s policy toward Israel than with the Ft. Hood shooting. The Ft Hood incident is simply a visible and expedient issue to use to expose the Obama bias toward Muslims as well as the Obama regime’s feckless policy toward Homeland security and terrorism.
