Friday, Allee Bautschs mother Della Berning appeared by phone on Fox News to speak about the events of last weekend on behalf of Allee and her boyfriend.
Video of that interview follows:
Earlier today, Yahoo! News posted a story with another interview with Ms. Berning in which her confirmation of a political cause for the attack on her daughter and her boyfriend is more explicit:
Contrary to our initial report, the NOPD is now saying that it does not know whether or not the attacks were politically motivated and the police report lists the motive as unknown. However, Allee Bautschs mother, Della Berning, has now joined a friend of Bautschs in telling Yahoo! News that, contrary to what Brown initially told police, Bautsch and Brown do believe that the attackers were a group of political protesters who followed them after they left the event. Their recollection is not conclusive, of course, and they admit to having no knowledge of the attackers underlying motivations.
According to Berning, Bautsch and Brown are recovering from their injuries and the trauma of the attack, and so are not speaking directly to the media. However, the couple authorized her to come forward with their account of the attack. Berning told Yahoo! News that she reconfirmed with her daughter each detail of the account she offered via email and phone.
For the most part, the police report and Bernings account of the assault on Bautsch and Brown line up. Bautsch and Brown attended a Republican Party fundraiser that coincided with the Southern Republican Leadership Conference that happened in New Orleans that week. The event drew protesters, some of whom remained after it concluded.
And a little more:
The police report and the subsequent account of the attack that Bautsch and Brown gave to Bautschs mother mainly differ on the question of whether the attackers were from the group protesting the fundraiser. According to the police report, Brown told them that he was unsure if the attackers were protestors. Berning says her daughter and Brown believe that they were.
Berning explained that on the night of the attack, because of the furious nature of the assault and the late night, the two didnt want to say for certain that they knew the identity of the attackers. You dont want to say something like that to the police and get someone in trouble with the law, she explained, unless youre absolutely sure.
But while they dont claim certainty, Bautsch and Brown believe the attackers did come from the group of protesters. Berning said the two felt followed immediately after leaving the restaurant where the protesters were, and the attackers looked like some they had seen in front of the restaurant.
But while the Yahoo! News story appears to grudgingly admit the obvious, that the protestors at Brennans produced the attack, reporter Bret Michael Dykes still manages to inject an obnoxious and insulting paragraph toward the end of the piece:
Of course, even if Bautsch and Browns recollection is correct and the attackers did come from the group protesting the event, they cant know for sure what their motives were. Their account of the non-political nature of the verbal assault matches the one Brown gave police and the homophobic, misogynistic nature of the insults would be unusual coming the kind of person one might expect to protest a Republican fundraiser.
So anarchist thugs who attack people on the streets for their political beliefs are still morally superior because only Republicans are homophobes and misogynists? Seriously? This actually made it into a story Yahoo ran on their site?

Jindal will be in North Louisiana some time soon. I will be asking him about the issue, in my capacity as Editor and Publisher of Lincoln Parish News Online.

Isn’t LA a “one party consent” state as far as voice recording is concerned, abb? (”one party” can be the person doing the recoding)
If so, I’m curious why some things weren’t recorded, especially the conversation with the police spokesman where at first he stated the motivation for the attack was political, but then try to walk it back?
I’m thinking (if 1-party is the law in LA) that all Q&As with police, politicians and others involved in this case should be documented as much as possible.
Lots of evidence in this case: protesters pictures of the event, city security cameras throughout capturing the mauling, and the attacker’s dropped wrist watch containing his DNA.
I would hope the NOPD is putting this all together for an arrest at any moment unless this evidence is all washed away as in the OJ trial.
That interview was by Pat Dollard. He said he had a witness on the phone with him when he talked to the NOPD guy.
You have to remember that the intent of the State-Run Media and the Governor and the NOPD is to KEEP THIS OUT OF THE HEADLINES.
You see, Allee and Joe are expendable for the Greater Good of New Orleans tourism. Can’t frighten the dollars away from the French Quarter, doncha know.
The NOPD probably hasn't interviewed anyone beyond the two victims.
OTOH maybe she’s cooperating with authorities in using a little mind games.....
Probably have hit the mattresses, and LEO wants them to think it’s safe to rear their ugly heads.
FBI tip line:

Know something? Turn it in.
The NOPD is filled with thugs, bullies and criminals. Nothing will be done about this. The very best cops there are the incompetent ones that are not actually breaking laws, but are too stupid to do their job. I lived there nine years and saw it first hand every day.
Don't think she 'hiding' anything. . .being thoughtful, and perhaps not without a bit of conscious or unconscious fear; and certainly some confusion. Being 'good' people; both victims are attempting a 'fairness', no doubt. After such trauma; more 'aha' moments come. . .
That said, as fair and honest as these two victims are trying to be; the 'opposition' true to it's roots, is trying as hard to demonize and still destroy. These Leftist-thugs Marxists could have killed them that night. Now that same MO is trying to destroy their credibility - their moral integrity - by debased attacks. It IS too disgusting; but speaks to an ugliness that is spreading across America, thanks to Obama.
The hate of these people is is spewing, rumbling and erupting; as richly and dangerously as is the volcanic ash, now moving around Northern Europe and threatening and impacting all, whose head it falls upon.
And here again; it is the victims in this story, who continue, to be threatened. Not sure even now; that public identification is the safest MO - as Allee Bautsch acknowledges - and perhaps she still feels that way.
Cannot say I could blame them. They are certainly not being protected by those whose job it is, to be doing just that.
The initial source, a blogger, "Pat Dollard reported that a NOPD official spokesman had confirmed that the insults hurled at Bautsch and Brown were political in nature, giving strength to the argument that the assault was politically motivated. The spokesman later walked back that allegation to Dollard, not precisely denying it but refusing to confirm it."
Politico: Assault in the quarter, cont'd [CORRECTED]
Update Saturday's New Orleans GOP Beatdown Update, most interesting with other scenarios.
victim unsure if violent attack was political
The shame of it is that it will cause some people to cave in. Go along to get along is too deeply engrained in society.
Any day now I expect to hear RINOs start harping on "building bridges".
If you had seen and tried to have a discussion with the little commies I dealt with at yesterday's rally you would see the futility of "building bridges". They are mind numbed preprogrammed robots who will kill for their cause. I really attempted a friendly discussion, all I heard was more canned crap! Every phrase they uttered was right out of the marxist script.
“we must all hang together or we shall each hang separately”
didn’t a greaa American patriot once say that, when the outcome of political dissent was possible death?
OK. ..we need a campaign to speak to this; to cut it off and redirect it. Beat them at their own propaganda.
No Demon - No Demonization! Come on Lefties; get REAL!
Lefties: Get rid of your demon!) Now that would bring 'it'/lol. . .
I don’t know who Ryan Booth is, but I could not agree with him more. That column is great!
I eagerly await the ping for that story.
Jindal is not doing himself any favors here.
Mr. Booth is a conservative activist and member of the GOP State Central Committee. I have had the honor of working with him on campaigns and have known him for over ten years.
He’s the real deal.
>>You see, Allee and Joe are expendable for the Greater Good of New Orleans tourism.
If you can manage it in your interview with Jindal, you should point out that the story is out, and that targeted political violence is not bad for tourism in the way that a random attack would be.
I’m working on a column along those lines today for my online newspaper.
Failing to infiltrate because they bragged about it first..like the grade school (Media guy) activist blogger up in Oregon ["looking out for your kids"], their plot foiled (they don't even "fit" in as stand out with "the look" of "being professionally cool like a radical").
Next step, thugs being hired that are not your average Democrat/neighbor next door; but "professional" Radical-Thugs (Union included) that get the call to be someplace, certain time to do their persuasive thing + if they get caught or show up on police radar, they do not know who hired them scenario. What's a little assault and battery, bar brawl spill over, etc.
The video camera/microphone (Iphone for example) is very important to have at all times when found in these situations. There were pictures of the victims on the ground for bloggers, but no shots of the thugs?
"class war happens"
