The U.S. Army has dismissed a soldier who threatened fellow troops and sent the Pentagon a violent rap song he wrote to protest his Iraq redeployment orders, officials said Saturday.
The dismissal for misconduct means Spc. Marc A. Hall will avoid criminal charges but lose all military benefits earned over at least four years of service, including an earlier tour in Iraq.

At least prosecute him for shitty rap.
This is gonna piss him off pretty bad.
“The dismissal for misconduct means Spc. Marc A. Hall will avoid criminal charges but lose all military benefits earned over at least four years of service, including an earlier tour in Iraq.”
How does this differ from anyone else discharged for misconduct?
The story has holes in it.
Refusing to deploy is one thing...but THREATENING his fellow troops? THAT should be dealt w/ severely, IMO. That is completely unacceptable!
It doesn't. Other than getting a dishonorable, which doesn't mean squat these days, the guy gets out of the Army and goes on with his life. As for loss of benefits, I don't think 4 years entitles you to anything does it? I served for 3 and all I collected was my final paycheck........
What benefits could he have earned other than GI Bill and VA Medical care?
Is the point of this story that we should all feel sorry for this guy? So lets just go ahead and give him the GI Bill and VA Medical care for life. In fact why not just give him a freakin’ pension? And how about the writer of the article gets to pay for it?
Can’t really feel sorry. The last line there about “No remorse” was so fitting - the US Government has no remorse for firing his sorry ass either.
Just my opinion.
Those discharged OTH cannot reenlist and the majority of veterans' benefits are not available including the Montgomery GI Bill and (in most cases) VA healthcare benefits.
Most likely, this person was offered and exercised his option to accept an administrative discharge in lieu of a trial which could have resulted on confinement.
That is the best I can do, ED, given the sketchy details.
A 34 year old E-4. No loss.
Real cute making a song about killing US soldiers. What a creep. He did this to get out of the military and it worked. In the meantime, he is the jihadi sympathizers’ hero. Another “freedom fighter” for Islam.
It’s fairly standard. But the worst thing that will happen to this idiot will be his ability get a good job. His bad conduct discharge will show up when companies screen his job application. He’ll wind up working under the table at some junk yard or stealing. That is, if he doesn’t have access to a family business.
They just want to get him oughta there. He’s a malcontent. Why waste time and money on him?
No respectable company hires people with bad conduct discharges. This idiot’ll wind up working at a junk yard being paid under the table or he’ll steal—or both.
Or worse. I bet that within four years he will make the local papers.
He would've had to be court martialed to get a Big Chicken Dinner. He probably got admin-sep'd, same thing you get for doing drugs or racking up a bunch of DUIs.
But this guy committed a serious criminal act when he threatened his colleagues, didn’t he?
Yo ChrisInAR, you are right. But why would you keep this slug in theater? Soldiers have relatively easy access to guns and ammo. Be assured he’s made a lot of his fellow soldiers angry. Perhaps angry enough to arrange an accident for this coward. Military is not gonna let that happen.
Best thing in both the short and long terms is to get the man out of theater and out of the Army.
