weird
“Pretending to be Bond, they set up a new Facebook page, using the alias Phileas Fogg, and sent messages to his friends, suggesting that this was a way to keep in touch now that he was on the run. Two thirds of them got in contact. As a result, the investigators were able to crash parties and find out more about Bond in conversation.”
Whoa.
We’re letting it happen here, too.
I highly recommend that FReepers read the entire article.
Interesting, thought-provoking read. Thanks for posting it.
Yes, if your face happens to look like all those images we see of criminals’ faces blurred out for privacy’s sake.
i like the detail about the prius
scary
So, can we hire the detectives to dig up the real scoop on Obama?
Terrifying how much government knows about us.
We need a new book, 2084. The government has gone beyond the book 1984.
The only good news for us is that the government is drowning in a vertual tsunami of information about us. If they want to go after a single individual or a group, they can nail you in short order. They have tons of information on you. But there is so much information to cull and process, they will never have the manpower to go after people in great numbers. They are drowning in information.
Our best chance for privacy is no longer anonymity, but to bury the government in so much virtual information, they simply get lost in it all.
Publicity stunt to help him sell his upcoming book.
If he had really wanted to disappear he sure wouldn’t have kept in touch with his wife.
Well daaaaa,
PREGNANT WIFE...not permitted in UK (except for alternative religions). No wonder this guy fled...first, he married someone from the opposite sex, then got her pregnant IN WEDLOCK.
This guys is a damn VICTORIAN, he better scram.
(England today, by BobL)
This guys attempt was lame at best and copied the guy at wired who really did a terrific job.
David Bond seems rather kooky, but it’s a good article overall about disappearing in a surveillance state.
