The United States envisions a limited Israeli air strike on Iran. A conference by U.S. Central Command and the Washington Institute for Near East Policy concluded that Israel was preparing a military strike against Iran's nuclear facilities. In a report on the January 2010 conference, senior U.S. officers and strategists were said to have identified key Iranian targets in any Israeli strike.
"If Israel were to take unilateral military action, it would be focused and short-lived, conducted via long-range bombing runs or missile strikes," the report, titled "The Perfect Handshake With Iran," said. "The most likely targets would be the plutonium-producing heavy water reactor under construction in Arak, the centrifuge enrichment facility at Natanz, and the uranium conversion plant in Isfahan." Natanz was said to contain nearly 10,000 centrifuges for the production of nuclear fuel. Arak was expected to be completed around 2011.
The report, released on April 9, said Israel would examine several routes for its F-15 and F-16 fighters for the 1,000-kilometer flight to Iran. The most likely route was along the border of Syria and Turkey, similar to that used in Israel's attack on Syria's nuclear facility in 2007.
"Israeli aircraft would likely fly along the Syrian-Turkish border or similar lines, confusing the issue of which countries were being overflown," the report said. "Though it is possible that Israel would ask for tacit permission to fly through Saudi air space."
Israeli military preparations reflected a lack of trust in the administration of President Barack Obama, the report said. Author Patrick Clawson said Israel believes the United States has become resigned to a nuclear Iran without understanding the consequences for the Middle East.
Still, the report said Israel would not rush to attack Iran. The officers and strategists agreed that the Jewish state "will

Really Amusing.
It’s only a matter of time....and time is getting shorter and shorter.
I think they’ve misread the playing field. When Israel pulls the trigger, it isn’t going to be ‘very limited’. An attack on Iran will open the floodgates and Israel knows it. When it comes, Israel will go all out.
One would think, but we also thought that 2 years ago.
One would think, but we also thought that 2 years ago.
But we’re 2 years closer than then. I know what you’re saying.
That's right. Because they will have no other choice but to not only destroy the nuke facilities, but to destroy Iran and Syria's ability to strike back.
The longer they wait, the more of a threat Russian and China will also pose to Israel's plan.
What irks me more than anything is having the Marxist Muslim in the Oval Office and that Commie dyke SoS who will not lift a finger to help Israel when it needs the help.
I expected it before the community organizer took over the White House; but I was wrong.
I guess I am not enough of an expert to know when it will come. Maybe Israel is looking for a better political climate here?
Maybe after November elections and a Republican sweep?
Yep. By O’s refusal to help, he is pretty much condemning the Middle East to a helluva lot more death and destruction. If he would have simply let them have the tools they need to complete the job, the loss of life could have been lower. O is going to have the blood of millions to atone for.
Nobody’s going to do anything but talk. Iran won’t test until they have a stockpile already dispersed around they country. Then everybody will agree it’s too late for a military option.
God help us.
I really doubt we'll be reading about it before it happens too.
We’ll be waking up to the Middle East in smoking ruins I’m afraid, with more on the way.
I’m afraid you’re right.
Very possible.
This SUCKS. Why should we have to count on little Israel. This is our job!
It was until O decided we were all better off as slaves.
I agree, I am thoroughly prepared to wake up one morning to something that will change this world or country in ways that will make 9/11 pale in comparison.
It's just a matter of what and when.
I suggest one additional target. Drop one down the well out of which the 27th Imam is supposed to pop up.
