Exclusive New Orleans Beat-Down Update Via Interview With The NOPD - “It Was Of A Political Nature”
Pat Dollard. com ^ | April 15, 2010 | Pat Dollard

I just had a very interesting and somewhat confusing conversation with New Orleans Police Department Public Information Officer Bob Young.

Mr. Young confirmed to me that the New Orleans police had indeed taken statements from both of the victims, Jindal aide Allee Bautsch and her boyfriend, Joe Young. He confirmed that in those statements, the victims reported that their assailants had indeed hurled “insults” at them, and the “insults” were, and I quote, “of a political nature”. Describing the entire attack, he went on to say “it was of a political nature”. I then repeated what he told me, and he confirmed it as accurate. I had a witness on the call, Mark Harvey of the Snooper Report, who can confirm this. However, for reasons I’m not clear about, when I pressed him again later, he began to backtrack a bit, perhaps with some cya in regard to his superiors, and he said that he was not authorized to give an official statement about the contents of the “insults”, and for the record, it had not officially been made clear to him what the contents of those “insults” were. He ended up going from “yes, it was of a political nature” to “I’m not sure”. Mark, an established blogger, was as baffled as I.

My read on this: he caught himself talking out of school in a relaxed opening with me, and then backtracked before he got his ass in trouble.

He then informed me that the lead detective on the case was one Detective Nick Gernin, a crack officer, one of the very best in the 8th Division, the Division assigned to cover the French Quarter. Detective Gernin had told him yesterday that he had “a couple of hours” of surveillance tapes to review last night. Mr. Young told me that the Detective wasn’t in the office yet, but that as soon as he was, he would get a report from him as to the contents of those tapes, and he would call me with whatever their was to report about them.

Mr. Young also told me that there was no other new information to report on the case at this time, and that there were no named suspects on anybody’s mind or list, yet.

It is HIGHLY illegal to be drinking while carrying or carrying while drinking, take your pick.

I don’t know what they have said or not said. Since when is it the duty of the victims to have a press conference about being attacked by a gang of thugs? Maybe they’re waiting for the police to do their damn jobs.

"I do not know, did they start a fight, throw the first punch?"

Have you seen the pictures of these two? If you had, you wouldn't ask such a ridiculous question. She's an aid to the Governor!! They're college-educated, suburban white as it gets. Yeah, they picked a fight with a crowd......

You honestly think she tripped on the curb and broke her leg?!!? Come on! There’s reserving judgment until all of the evidence is in and then there’s stretching while looking for alternate conclusions!!

On the contrary, it is not HIGHLY illegal to drink while you carry or carry while you drink. It is illegal to be intoxicated while carrying. There is a difference.

Probably different state laws where you are vs where I am. The laws vary a lot.

The CCHL instructor was very specific about it.
No drink in your hand, no alcohol in your system.

Besides, it’s just common sense that you shouldn’t be impaired with that kind of responsibility on you.

The problem isn't the MSM, it's the self-appointed gatekeepers of the conservative blogosphere, Michelle Malkin, Hoitie Air and the Daily Caller who tried to beat down this story such that talk radio has ignored it.

Drudge finally got around to linking to one of the reports about it today.

Amazing what someone can do when they don’t feel like taking dictation from the governor and actually do a little reporting.

And, I might add, they did so after Jindal's people intervened and poured cold water on the story.

Will the MSM cover this now?

I propose someone start a “rumor” that 2 Obama fans were beaten by Tea Partiers and see how fast the media jumps on it.....would be the best scheme to humiliate the MSM....if someone then said ooooopsss...it was the other way around...

Someone with the resources could do it....I just know it... someone should just twitter it....or viral email it...something....

> What a bunch of BS.
If this was political then why aren’t these victims speaking out to the press themselves?

I agree. This is the type of thing that Bush let go because he’s ‘above responding’ that hurt his presidency more than the stupid spending programs he avocated - which hurt a lot! When you don’t respond then you just ‘give’ the incident to the Left. This is where Republicans always fail, whether it’s Bob Dole not understanding that he was actually the ‘_majority_ leader’ or Trent Lott handing over the Senate to Daschele when it was ‘tied’. Sigh. We REALLY should get rid of some of these wimpy a$$ho!e$ and find some people that know how, and can play, the game of politics. And if that means lowering your esteem for Jindal then so be it!

Yep. At least there are a few conservative sites around that don’t take dictation from politicians.

You are correct that all states are different to a certain degree and you are right about the common sense aspect of it. The instructor here said similar things as in "zero tolerance" but if you go to the actual law there is a distinction between having a drink while you carry and being intoxicated.

Just sayin'

Hello! We had all kinds of media types reporting “slurs” and “spitting” at a tea party rally. No coverage of a political beating? We need to support our own media, so that this kind of thing gets reported. The media is obviously biased and unresponsive.

I understand the frustration MrB. I've already said three rosaries and been to daily mass, and most likely when my husband gets home, we'll go out for another "rosary walk."

I *do* have a great deal of respect for Bobby Jindal, though, and as he's already done the tango so-to-speak with the devil at a very early age (in his 20s) and so he understands just how much the devil can accomplish, I'll try to wait patiently regarding what he has to say on this beating his campaign worker and her boyfriend took. Here's a couple snips from his piece regarding the exorcism he was involved in.
Some desperate part of my brain wondered if we should also call the campus priest. I wanted the full authority of the Church to confront this demon, or whatever was causing this horrible scene. I wanted the priest to bring the Eucharist and watch the spirits fall before the power of Christ's Real Presence. But I was scared. I wondered what would happen if the Eucharist did nothing and the priest was helpless. What if the consecrated Bread was just bread? What if the Church had no power over the cause of Susan's bizarre behavior? I was unable to pray and too frightened to test my Church's spiritual strength.

Strangely, I found myself repeating the Hail Mary until it became a chant. Being a recent convert to Catholicism, I had yet to accept the Catholic doctrines concerning Mary and considered any form of Marian devotion to be idolatry. Though I had never before prayed a Hail Mary in my life, I suddenly found myself incapable of any other form of prayer. Somehow, Mary's intercessions allowed me to find peace during that long night; I knew that I had survived the worst and that I would exit with my faith intact. It terrified me to recall how close I came to turning away from Christ out of fear. --Bobby Jindal, 1994

Why are conventions held in high crime cities? I used to live in NO, and I NEVER go there un-armed.

Show me someone who wants to vacation in New Orleans, and I will show you someone who has never been there.
