I woke up this morning to the sound of my alarm clock, which is powered by electricity provided by the public power monopoly that is regulated by the US Department of Energy. I then proceeded to take a shower in clean, drinkable water from the Municipal Water Utility. After that, I watched on of the FCC regulated channels on my TV to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determinded the weather would be like by usinc satellites launced, maintained, designed and built by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of US Department of Agriculture inspected food and taking my medication that was deemed safe for me to use by the Food and Drug Administration.
At the appropriate time as regulated by the US Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and the US Naval Observatory, I got into my National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration approved automobile and set out on roads built by local, state and federal Departments of Transportation. I stopped and purchased fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank.
After work, I drove my NHTSA car back over the DOT roads, to a house which has not burned down in my absence thanks to state and local building codes, as well as the fire marshall's inspection. In the event that it had been set ablaze, I would expect for the fire department to make themselves present and douse the flames. Upon realizing that this hasn't happened, I also noticed that my residence had also not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police fighting crime in my neighborhood.
I then log onto the internet, which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration and post on freerepublic.com and the Fox News Forums about now Socialism in medicine is bad and the government can't do anything right.
ZOT! for the idiot DUmmy. IATZ.
It’s really quite simple: most of those “Government” things you describe are actually Constitutional. Interstate Highways, time/weight/energy standards and the like are Constitutional. Building codes, fire marshalls, local utilities are all Constitutional as those are some of the powers reserved to the People or the States and duly carried out.
Now show me where it’s Constitutional to force me to associate with others, to force me to participate economically, and how it is Constitutional for the Federal Government to mandate INTRASTATE commerce, as each State regulates its own insurance rules.
See the difference?
Please let me know if you want ON or OFF my Viking Kitty/ZOT ping list!. . . don't be shy.
Uhhh. Sometimes they do.
It’s not really her. LOL
exxcceeeelllllllennnnntttt
I know that.
I remember the brussel sprouts thread...lol.
I understand. You want Big Daddy Gov’t to control everything. Ok, got it.
The story of what I did today sounds very similar — except I’ve moved to upper Wisconsin so I don’t have to contemplate about the illegal aliens all around me (as I did when we lived in Denver), and that I can’t go grocery shopping till Friday when hubby gets paid. Totally understand about “supplementing” with meats (I’ve found 101 things to do with Ground beef I think), as well as wondering if I’ll have enough to buy fresh fruit and veggies (not always possible as I’m sure you know...) — I should have stock in a Canned Peach plant because that’s the one thing I always have stock of (that and Mandarin Oranges when they are on sale, as well as Pineapple when that is on sale like it was around Easter).
I also haven’t bought ANYTHING in a regular store except on (usually FINAL) clearance in YEARS — In fact, since the Salvation Army store closed here I’m finding myself much less “OK” with my girls wearing their “good jeans” outside to play in!
Oh, and we homeschool as well... As you said, it’s not that easy to provide all these things, but I like you know it’s WAY worth it.
One thing that’s hugely different is the fact that my husband isn’t in the Guard. And for that I have to say Thank You - to him for his service, and for you for the sacrifices you make as a family that allow him to serve. God’s blessings to you and yours — just remember WE (as in you and I) are NOT alone... I would guess there are many more people like us than there are like “them” (the liberal losers who take and take and never give back).
I wonder if he ever considered a similar post about how his day would be without the contributions of private industry. He may soon find out.
I am glad you got my meaning.
When I was a little 50mm, my father forced me to eat every last , stinking, slimy Brussels sprout on my plate, every time. Can’t stand the slimy gag balls.
It’s a force kick. No contact needed.
