They didn’t start the skirmishes. And, what is usually known as the “Mormon War” in Utah wasn’t a war at all. The US sent an army to Utah to put down a non-existent rebellion. When the army got to Utah, they marched through Salt Lake without firing a shot. The Mormons had left the city, had filled the buildings full of straw, and had left men with torches on every corner ready to set fire to the city rather than have everything they had built stolen from them again, as it had been in Missouri and Illinois.
The army marched through, set up a camp about 60 miles south and west of Salt Lake, and the Mormons did quite well trading with the military for the next while.
Who started what is debatable.
It seems that cults like mormons and mohamedans often suffer from a persecution complex...as is the case with the Mohamedans still. One outcome of that is aggression. We will have to agree to disagree.
Hopefully the Mormons have gotten over it-—with the outlawing of polygamy.

In Missouri, that issue was amplified by the fact that the Mormons were anti-slavery, and the surrounding areas were pro-slavery.

One couple had slaves and when the man died his wife “gave” one of her slaves to the tithing yard...
Briggy Young accepted the slave as a tithe too...
AND DID NOT FREE HIM..
The mormons have been racist bigots from the first...
They have religious scriptures agains the black race...
In 180 years no black man has ever been in leadership in the mormon corporation..
