In Event of WMD Attack, "All Bets Are Off" (Palin Victory, Obama Changes Stance on Nuke Warfare)
CBS News ^ | Sunday, April 11, 2010 | Stephanie Condon

The Obama administration's nuclear posture review may have removed some of the intentional ambiguity from U.S. nuclear policy, but it does not leave the country any less safe, President Obama's top national security advisers said on CBS' "Face the Nation."

In fact, they said, it gives a clear warning to other state actors that the U.S. will not ignore any growing threats.

"This is putting everybody on notice," Secretary of State Hillary Clinton told CBS News chief Washington correspondent Bob Schieffer in an interview conducted Friday at the Pentagon. "We don't want more countries to go down the path that North Korea and Iran are."

The revised nuclear policy says that the United States will not use nuclear weapons to respond to a chemical or biological attack from a non-nuclear country. The policy, however, leaves significant contingencies, said Secretary of Defense Robert Gates.

SNIP

"We were concerned about the biological weapons," Gates said, "and that's why the president was very clear ... if we see states developing biological weapons that we begin to think endanger us or create serious concerns, that he reserves the right to revise this policy."

Clinton added, "If we can prove that a biological attack originated in a country that attacked us, then all bets are off."

Gates also pointed out that the policy dictates that any country that uses chemical or biological weapons against the U.S. will "suffer a devastating conventional retaliation."

She has said, you don’t need a title to make a difference.
......................................................

She’s right but wrong...the problem is you have to be Sarah Palin to do it. In other words, who else could have caused a fuss like this apart from her?

Palin 2012.

“Obama is a spineless sand-bagger. Everything he does/says is subject to revision contingent upon the polls and media spin. His credibility is zip-zero. The WORST POTUS in history.”

I have nothing to add to your statement.

She was talking about herself - because everyone wanted to know, ‘are you running’? And that’s what I was referring to and she is right.

However, she is right, in general. Many w/o titles can make a difference - the Tea Party Patriots, names unknown have/are making a huge difference. Everyone doing their part is, also, what Sarah is referring to.

We are all for one common goal - take America back to it’s roots. It’s the goal that’s important, not the names/titles.

On the LIVE thread for Sarah's speech, I posted that my teachers mispronounced the word and that several of us likely grew up with the wrong pronunciation. Then I realized that I do say it right according to most elites:(nōō'klē-ər, nyōō'-).

I was happy when dear pillut48 posted on that same thread that both pronunciations are correct, but she also pointed out that Sarah was likely having fun with the very lame stream media because she pronounced it correctly too.

When I heard her, she said nucular, pronouncing it as Bush did. I hope she will say nuclear not nuc-you-lar in the future.

I don't giver a flying rat's bugger how whoever or whomever pronounces it...someone hits us, or threatens to hit us, with a nuke (BETTER?), I want their butt retaliated against, or better yet, stopped in the first place! We've got Black Hitler in the White House (black man posting) and FR is being taken over by the bloody Grammar Police!

From everything that I have read, Sarah Palin is the only Republican contender that has the cojones to call out President 0bama.

She is fearless, and a tremendous asset in framing the issues for conservatives.

>heard her say nu-cu-lar... Disappointing>

It is disappointing when people don’t understand the background of dialects. Some words and dialects in
your state would be very different in other parts of the
U.S. and thought strange because most people don’t have a
clue on this history.

Sarah speaks an upper MidWest and a bit of Canadian thrown in.

Most people who start in on speech should have a background in the knowledge of dialects of the various areas of the U.S. and where they originate.

New Englanders of many generations speak archaic English.
They use a patern and words mostly from 16th Cen. England
and in most cases not spoken as much in Eng. today.

In the Appalachian area, they speak a form of Scotch-Irish
with a bit of old english.

The TideWater area also speaks archaic forms of English.

The usual idiot, ignorant "progressive" posture.
What have they done?

Found a conventional munitions and delivery systems fairy somewhere?

I don't much care how she says it.
Or the commander-in-chief, for that matter; He can even call it the Atomic Corpse...

Ditherer-in-Chief is being forced by public outrage to back off...

I've been thinking that the no-nuke use from 0' is actually no big deal. It would have been from honest politicians, if it came from any Bush, or Reagan. But, when this policy comes from a rabid liar, it means our enemies still don't know where we'll go when attacked. Enemies will wonder, is 0' lying, and will retaliate with nukes even though he said he would not?

We clearly have a government run by morons.

It used to be called by the PC word "egalitarianism..."

But "moron" is more descriptive... and accurate.

Makes no sense to make policy to revise the policy, so they are lying like “H”.

So, what’s new?

Noo-kyu-ler has become an accepted, albeit substandard, alternative just as the equally cringe inducing Illinoiz has for Illinois.

It has been pronounced "nukular" by many for a long time. The father of the H-bomb, Edward Teller pronounced it "nukular" as did Dwight Eisenhower.
