Accidents do happen and the “Tupo’s” are flying death traps with 5 or 6 fatal crashes in the last 6 years!
The Polish people will move West if there is even a hint of foul play or some nation trying to take advantage of the situation.

Somewhere I saw the phrase “Soviet-era Ilyushin” associated with this crash.
It is fully within the realm of possibilities that this really is “just an accident”. Not certain, but plausible.

I suspect the invite to Russia was a setup for this. Doubtful. Reports are the pilot refused to divert and made four attempts to land at an airport with poor weather and poor ATC.
