The cat found beaten and nailed to a utility pole in rural Henry County, Illinois has died, according to the Dana Miller Veterinary clinic, which was caring for the animal.
A spokesperson said the cat, nicknamed "Dutch" passed away last night.
Dutch was found nailed by one paw to the utility pole near Dutch Bottom road outside the town of Geneseo on Monday.

Compassion without priority is worthless, since it cannot be acted upon effectively. Do you understand what I am saying?Yes, I do understand. You don't know what compassion is or how to act on it.
If you where to see with eye wide open, and truly know all of the tragedies that happens daily in the world, you could not function!
It has long been a daily practice to open my heart to that and it has increased my capacity to function enormously. Sentient beings throughout space vastly outnumber humans and animals and so does their suffering.

"That may apply to your chosenly crippled state of philosophy, but does not apply to most of us. As bad as abortion is the point of the post is some sick bastard nailed a cat to a post. I hope this individual isn't roaming around your neighborhood.

He is probably in Illinois, my back yard. Would Edgar like to come HERE and help nip this likely future mass murderer in the bud?

So are you going to leave you abode and go investigate and hunt down the potential social psychopath?
There are sociopaths and there are psychopaths. The two are not the same. Three percent of the world population is assumed to be psychopaths. Psychopaths always leave human wreckage in their paths. Not all psychopaths are serial killers, but all serial killers are psychopaths. Psychopaths lack conscience and especially conscience to others suffering including animals.

Indeed the dominion given by God is a dominion that carries the responsibility of respect. God never intended our souls to be numbed even to cats and dogs. (That is how, at one point, the Catholic church in Spain okayed the old fashioned kind of bullfighting.) A wise man is kind to his animals.

I am seriously thinking of moving to Tennessee for a change in career. It used to be that the Chicago area was where the jobs were.

Yes, thanks for the info!
I understand what you are saying, but I’m not going to get upset that a cat was nailed to a pole, and in fact this is pretty much proof that a psychopath is about. I’m more concerned with b=children being murdered by choice of mother, and our President just said it’s Ok if we get nuked, because we won’t response in kind!
I just see many, many more disturbing things going on besides the psycho and the cat!

Granted Harry the fairy comes from Nevada. I hope we rectify that in 2010. But I am still gainfully employed for the time being and there is a lot of space here to go Boony humping and shoot my guns. And hunt for that matter.

I believe I remember more recent similar stories, e.g. a puppy getting the same treatment.

Thank you. I would say though that the capacity for compassion, wisdom and loving kindness are not set in any of us and can be expanded without limit through practice. I won’t suggest that it is easy or painless but the other choices are to remain static or go the other direction.

If the psychopath had gotten upset at the prospect of nailing a cat to a pole, the cat would not have been nailed by him to the damn pole! Can you see where your own numbness potentially leads?

If God can still care about a fallen sparrow even when His innocents are slaughtered, who are we to not spare an appropriate amount of horror for an animal so cruelly treated?
