Poll: George W. Bush still blamed for economy

Former President George W. Bush gets more blame for the country’s economic troubles than his successor or the Democrats who control Congress, according to a Harris poll out Wednesday.

Thirty-one percent of the 2,344 adults surveyed said Bush deserves the most blame for a rough economy, leading the second-place Wall Street by 6 percentage points.

Democrats in Congress were blamed by 16 percent of those polled, while President Barack Obama was blamed by 14 percent. Republicans in Congress were blamed by 9 percent of respondents, and Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke was blamed by 4 percent.

A majority of Democrats — 53 percent — blamed Bush for the economy. Republicans, meanwhile, blamed Democrats in Congress more than Obama.

“The memory of President George W. Bush and the state of the economy he left as part of his legacy still sticks in the craw of Americans,” wrote pollster Louis Harris in his analysis.

So let me see if I can put this in a nutshell. Overwhelmingly Americans blame the federal government. Bingo.

Even though I’m still disturbed about the actions taken by the Bush Administration, many remind me that the actual cost of the program is at $100B, down from $700B.
I don’t think the government should be in the business of profit while they have the ability to make law.

This poll completely puts the lie to the fantasies some Freepers have about the “dying off” of the mainstream media’s influence.

You beat me to it!! — Many of the libs now, realizing what a horror story they put in our Oval Office, have to blame something other than President Soros and the low-IQ and selfish liberal voters that put him there.

Everyone in government deserves blame. The central bankers that enjoy a federal government-enforced monetary monopoly deserve blame.

The Austrians are correct. The current economic mess is a correction of the loose credit policies the government championed.

Will people realize that a command and control type monetary policy is no more viable for the long-term than Soviet style command and control of production of goods? Probably not. Mention even auditing the federal reserve, and they inexplicably call you a liberal.

Say you favor freedom over government mandates in money and they call you crazy.

Free Republic: where championing fredom in things that people don’t understand is considered kookery.

Yawn...so commie propaganda works, not news.

More importantly, why are the “men” on FR constantly sniveling about being victims of GWB and the Kenyan.

Why not step up for your wives and children and do something radical?

During the first 6 years of the Bush admin, the US had one of the strongest economies ever. The housing/finance debacle was created by Barney Frank and his minions. Bush weakness is that he, nor his staff, did not fight this like they should have. It’s common sense that you don’t give loans to people who can’t afford it and they went along with the plan.

I attack fascists, statists, and progressives, irrespective of what letters follow their names.

Are you ready to do the same, or would you just prefer to continue playing duck-duck-goose with the establishment RINOs and Rats?
