Disappointment as US high school students snub 'lesbian-friendly prom'

Senior prom fell far short of the rite of passage Constance McMillen was hoping for when she began a legal battle to challenge a ban on same-sex dates.

The 18-year-old lesbian student said that she was one of only seven students to show up at a private party chaperoned by school officials. She said the rest of her peers went to another private event where she wasn't invited.

"It was not the prom I imagined," she said. "It really hurts my feelings. These are still people who I've gone through school with, even teachers who loved me before this all started. I've never been a bad student and I don't feel like I deserve to be put through this."

Her case drew a national spotlight after she and the American Civil Liberties Union challenged an Itawamba County School District rule that banned same-sex prom dates and a requirement that only male students wear tuxedos. Proms are parties held for students, generally in their senior year in high school.

The ACLU sent a demand letter to Superintendent Teresa McNeece in February, saying the rules against same-sex prom dates and girls wearing tuxedos violated Miss McMillen's constitutional rights. The district responded by withdrawing its sponsorship and cancelling the April 2 event.

In an apparent compromise, school district officials said parents would organise a private event with school chaperones that Miss McMillen could attend.

I’d tell you two to kiss and make up . . .

However, either something would get lost in the translation

or the execution . . .

LOL.

So, I leave you both to The Lord and His requirements for both of you.

I’m kinda scary when I’m 5-times your size

the trick is to stay scary when they are your size or even bigger. my 18 yo son is graduating from HS and going to college this coming fall and i am praying that he fears us enough to stay on the right path when he's gone. my 21 yo daughter is great, a total straight arrow. we raised them all the same way, but i have more fears for the boy.

Confess, Repent . . .

to Snake Doctor for your part without qualification

and to The Lord.

Do as you know The Lord would have you do.

There’s no other choice.

Besides, it may nudge you preliminarily the next temptation.

Snake,

I’m sorry for losing my temper at you and saying stupid things.

If Dad had an emotionally bonded, healthy affectionate sort of relationship the first 8 years and thereafter . . . DEMONSTRATING the values being taught, you should have no concerns of any great merit.

If not, it’s quite late to play catch-up. However, while there’s life, there’s hope.

Were I Dad, I’d make CERTAIN at whatever sacrifice, that I spent considerable quality time that was attractive to the boy building as emotionally close and encouraging, supportive relationship as possible, even if it meant holding my tongue a lot of times.

No worries. I could do without the “smooch”, though.

Good effort.

I usually TRY and make my appology at least match the intensity, emotionality and meatiness of my offense.

I don’t want it to come across as trying to fulfill the barest letter of the law required.

Can

“no worries”

be translated as

“I forgive you?”

Or is it a sliding by that issue?

Yeah — it basically means all is forgotten. I’m not Australian, but I’ve always been fond of that particular phrase.

My husband and i have been married for 25 years this June. We have three kids and we are a very close family. My son has played travel hockey since age 7 up through HS, which if you know anything about travel sports, is a HUGE time commitment from parents and players, involving out of state travel, getting up at crack o dawn etc. and is pretty much year round. My husband has done most of that, but we have done as much as possible as a family. I have no fears whatsoever that my son doesn’t realize what our values are and that we love and support him. He attends an all boys Catholic HS whose motto is Men For Others and is required to do many hours of community service as part of his education. We have planted the seeds, and done the fertilizing and watering for 18 years. I trust that God will take care of the three of them for me, when they are apart from us, because believe me, i pray without ceasing for all 3 of them. But, a mother can’t NOT worry!

Heya HD.

How’s life treating you? We’re busy over here in Houston, we’re starting to see life again (small signs) in the employment market. YEA

Great. Much appreciated.

Though I think it needs addressed to someone else.

CONGRATS BIG TIME.

Yes . . . training them up in the way they should go involves God fulfilling the last half of that promise then.

However,

If God is serious with me about learning to avoid worrying, repenting for such fears and sins of not trusting HIM, then I suspect He’s likely to be just as serious about it with you! LOL.

homosexual activists are now engaged in cyber bulling for the rest of the class. The homosexual activists are now saying anyone who refused to attend the prom and ELECTED to go to the private party is guilty of a thoughtcrime and should have their college admission revoked.

This pretty much establishes the pond scum nature of those advocating for this 18 year old sex fetish adult.

We do not know that those others were not invited. They may have been but chose to not to go there and instead go to the one where Constance was.
