Costa to Miller on water war: "It's on."
SFGate: Politics Blog ^ | 4/5/10 | Carolyn Lochhead, Chronicle Washington Bureau

California Democrats have officially opened fire in their civil war on water, with the Red Army in the Valley versus the Blue Army on the Bay.

This blistering missive today from Rep. Jim Costa, D-Fresno, quoting liberally from a Chronicle article Friday. Costa pits the Bay Area's liberal Rep. George Miller, D-Martinez, against (shudder) Latinos, and calls Mr. Environment a poster boy for (horrors) toxic polluters:

"We have stood up to the bully tactics of extreme environmentalists whose agenda ignores our families and our futures. We've made progress. More water will flow to our Valley and George Miller doesn't like it," Costa said.

"Here's my message to Congressman Miller: We will not back down -- not in the Valley and not in Congress. If he wants a fight with the Latino community and Valley farmworkers whose futures depend on water allocations, we'll give him a fight.

My thinking exactly...Devin Nunes was screaming for help from Congress and no one listened until Hannity came out...He just spouts rhetoric....We need much more than that...

I don’t believe a thing Jim Costa says. I hope and pray he loses in November.

Nunes is the guy that should be jumping all over this and pointing out that Costa can be bought and sold by Nancy Pelosi.

In this case I am on the Latino side and all legal and illegal alien farm workers. All farm owners and workers should be respected. We are nothing without these people

Where was Costa LAST summer when farmers were begging him to get the water turned back on?

Am I crazy? Didn’t Obama turn on the spigots in exchange for some yes votes on healthcare?

Wish he would. He’s just trying to get anyone on board who can do something.

They _are_ getting their fair share of water. Too bad for them it's not as much as they want. Deal with it.

The fish are more important.

Considering how much of our produce comes from that part of the country, I’m surprised grocery stores haven’t started yelling about this. This hurts their supply chain and drives up costs.

"I’m wondering what race has to do with water supply?"

California's Central Valley Agriculture is being dried up by liberal environmentalists for fear that small fish might get caught in the irrigation pumps. Latinos are very heavily involved with Central Valley agriculture at all levels. The same Latinos that the Dems like to pose as their "protectors." The result is that the Fresno area has the very worst unemployment in California, as many farms are turning to dust.

Seems to me that these people voted in the very people who have shut off their water so what is the problem? These people voted for Obama and will continue to vote for Obama. I would say that they are very well represented. They voted in people who would protect that stupid fish and the fish seems to be pretty safe to me so cut the crying and sniveling and keep voting Democratic. The only thing that bothers me is have to listen to you complain about the people you elected. I have a couple of more words, one beginning in F and one ending in U but why use them here. I don’t care because you will continue to send Democrats to Congress and continue to bitch about it. Send the right people to congress this would not happen but you choose to send people who give more of a shit about a fish than you. And to make matters worse, you KNOW this and send them anyway. Buck up and stop your whining.
