Crist wants Republican Party of Florida investigated for possible tax evasion

TALLAHASSEE (AP) — Gov. Charlie Crist wants a federal prosecutor to investigate possible criminal conduct at the Republican Party of Florida.

Crist wrote to U.S. Attorney Thomas Kirwin on Monday asking for an investigation separate from one being conducted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, saying federal tax laws may have been violated through credit card abuses.

Last week, the party reported that former Chairman Jim Greer funneled donor money to himself through a corporation he set up with former executive director Delmar Johnson. Greer has denied any wrong doing.

Greer was Crist’s hand-picked chairman. Greer resigned under pressure in February after reports of lavish spending. For months, party activists and donors called for his resignation, but Crist defended him through the day he resigned.

Greer was the one twisting arms to get early endorsements for Crist. Wonder if he is going to spill the beans that some of those credit cards went to aides of Crist so that they could pick up Charlie’s tabs which amounted to quite a bit while he can stand back and say he didn’t have a credit card. Word is that Greer picked up some expenses as well.

FL GOP new Chair is already investigating but that wasn’t good enough for Crist so now he goes after the entire FL GOP for something his handpicked person did. Cannot believe he is this stupid but he burned bridges with his Senate pick with all the County Chairs and now he can burn them for the rest of the GOP.

Strangest part of this is that Greer already resigned, Rubio had paid back the card as he went for personal items and now Crist pulls this crap.

Anyone still supporting Crist who is Republican needs a reality check!

LOL!!! That made me burst out laughing! So true!

Some of us on here tried to tell people to elect Gallagher in the primary and ignore what Crist was doing opening up old records but no we were on the wrong side. Looks like Gallagher would have been a much better choice and FL GOP wouldn’t have had Greer and FL most likely would not have gone to Obama as Gallagher could recognize voter fraud that Crist ignored and would have been all over FL against Obama.

Steele isn’t quite as tanned as Charlie (but he’s working on it).

Charlie is not black so voters can take him out in the primary and send him on his way probably to be an Ambassador for Obama until 2012 when we send Obama on his way.

LOL.

Bring it on, Charlie. While we’re at it, let’s unearth some of your dirt, too.

This is not the move of someone who wants to go independent because it alienates the very republicans he would like to get to follow him — elite RINO party hacks. The dems won’t vote for him, unless you count the yellow dogs who never vote for blacks or republicans so they won’t vote democrat Kendrick Meek. There are so few of them, nowadays, he needs to peel away republicans from Rubio.

This pretty much guarantees he won’t get them.

New Tag line — Charlie Crist to the Republican Party: I know where all the bodies are buried. (Because I had you bury them for me.)

If Charlie Crist can bring down the Florida Republican Party, then he can break his promise to not run as an Independent, right?

Nobody likes Crist here in Florida. My Democrat neighbors said he is a butt kisser to Obama and they liked Jeb Bush better than Crist. I don’t think he can redeem himself no matter what down here. Only look worse by the day.

The real reason Crist called on the Feds is because Rubio used the same state GOP credit cards to run up expenses.

This is not to go after Greer...it is to go after Rubio....who ran up some big charges while he was speaker of the Florida House.

The only two words I got to say about this: Bob Smith

“Hell hath no fury like a woman scorned.”

Reading that, and after the post above referring to his Senate “seat warmer,” while I was drinking a Coors—well, let’s just say you owe me a keyboard AND a beer.

GALLAGHER as the clean government choice? Are you serious? That guy has left a trail of slime in the Florida Capitol going back to the 90s! Darn right you were on the wrong side.
