A 600-pound man accepts plea deal for cheating numerous restaurants and stores out of junk food, The Orlando Sentinel reports.

A 600-pound Florida man pleaded no contest to scamming numerous restaurants and stores out of food -- and will avoid jail because it's too expensive for the state to pay his medical bills, The Orlando Sentinel reports.

George Jolicoeur, 38, was charged with felony petty theft for allegedly demanding refunds in restaurants and stores for spoiled or defective food -- after he had eaten all or most of it. His attorney says he's been in a nursing facility for months and needs a respirator to breathe.

Jolicoeur was arrested in 2007 at a 7-Eleven for telling a clerk he'd bought $50 of beef jerky, only to discover it was moldy. "The beef jerky got me," the arrest report states.

I wonder who is paying for his medical care now? My bet is the State so the argument about being too expensive to incarcerate is specious.

LOck him in a cell and give him 1000 cal a day in diet food. In a about six months he won’t be a problem anymore.
I think in prison the state pays for health care. If he is free then Medicaide pays..reducing state portion. This is one reason that CA wants to discharge all their old prisioners.

Besides that isn't government health care supposed to be cheaper? Oh, right, that's a liberal lie.

Would it have been cruel and unusual punishment not to give this guy 6+ milkshakes per day?

Also, could they have gotten him in the jail cell door?

Hey, I’m working on adding a few hundred pounds so they can’t put me in jail for failing to buy national health insurance.

I'm sure the state is picking up the tab but it's a sad state of affairs when it's cheaper to provide medical care at a nursing facility then in prison.
