David Petraeus for President: Run General, Run With many voters yearning for an outsider, and military officers looked up to, General David Petraeus could be a powerful presidential candidate and a potentially accomplished President.
Toby Harnden's 03 Apr 2010
Americans have never been so disgusted with their politicians. More than three-quarters of Americans disapprove of Congress. President Barack Obama's favourability ratings have slumped to below 50 per cent and he is no longer trusted or believed by many who voted for him.
Republicans are faring little better and the growth of the Tea Party movement reflects the widespread disgust with Washington and the political class. Incumbents across the board are vulnerable in November's mid-term elections.
Many voters yearn for an outsider, someone with authenticity, integrity and proven accomplishment. Someone who has not spent their life plotting how to ascend the greasy pole, adjusting every utterance for maximum political advantage. In this toxic climate, perhaps the only public institution that has increased in prestige in recent years is the American military. Its officers are looked upon, as General George Patton once noted, as "the modern representatives of the demi-gods and heroes of antiquity".
Where better to look for Obama's successor, therefore, than in the uniformed ranks? Not since 1952, when a certain Dwight Eisenhower, Supreme Commander of Allied Forces in Europe during the Second World War, was elected President, have the chances of a military man winning the White House been more propitious. Within those ranks, no one stands out like General David Petraeus, head of United States Central Command, leader of 230,000 troops and commander of United States forces in two wars.

Sigh. From your pen to God’s ear.....
With Gen. Peter Pace, USMC (Ret.) as V.P. or SecDef.
I don’t know about Petraeus, Republicans insiders say he is a moderate...I don’t know if this is disinformation from potential rivals or not!
Where does he stand on the issues?
The Gen. has said repeatedly he has no interet!

Where does he stand on the issues?
Yes that is the question... Dont need another General Powell
Exactly. I want to see where he stands on the issues before I vote for him. No more Obamas. But on the other hand, I do think he might have the leadership qualities.
In 2012, America will need someone with firm conservative bonafides to roll back the damage being caused now.
I think I need to know how committed the general is to this, before pushing forward.
Cogent statement from the cousins.
Change is coming to America.
Work for it.

AMEN! General Petraeus is my Second Choice! but my Realistic First Choice by Far for President in 2012!
My First Choice is THE MAN! The AMERICAM HERO and ICON!
My Choice for PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES IN 2012 is without pause, DICK CHENEY!! and screw the Libtard Communists! The One MAN the Chinese, The Russians, The North Koreans, the DEMORATS, and The MUSLIM TOWELHEADS Fear Most is a Good Honest American Leader, Hero, Capitalist and Freedom Defender and a Defender of Our AMERICA and OUR CONSTITUTION and Our FOREFATHERS, Richard (Dick) CHENEY!!
Dick Glared down the KENYAN FRAUD on January 20, 2009 because Dick knew the Jerk was a plant by America’s Enemies!
As a veteran I do not support Dick Cheney wanting to homosexualize the military, he and Mitt Romney are impossible to vote for based on that alone.
Yea —— Like the 2nd Amendment. Some senior Officers have strange ideas. (Like the Commander of Fort Hood, TX that wanted every soldier to register his/her guns even if he/she
lived off post.) I want to see his stand on issues before I get all heated up. We know where Palin stands and I back her at this time. Old Ike turned out not to be as conserative as the people though.

LOL.
While I appreciate the fruit salad, I have no idea where this man is in his thinking. He’s a tough, determined man, and I admire that. His commitment to military success is to be admired.
Beyond that, we just don’t know much and, since he’s active duty, we really can’t.
