Late last month, at a dusty fairground outside Tucson, John McCain stood behind the person who is, at least for the next few years, surely his most important legacy to American politics. And speaking to the adoring mob, Sarah Palin stood behind John McCain, repaying his inestimable gift to her in the most compelling possible fashion: by helping him to survive.
(snip)
Many, many years ago she'd competed in a beauty pageant, Palin declared, as women howled (and a few men growled) approvingly. McCain would surely win the talent and debate portions of any such contest, she went on, but no way would the Washington elite and "pundints" and "lame-stream media" ever crown him "Miss Congeniality"! "He's never been a company man, he's never been one to just 'go with the flow,'?" she crowed.
(snip)
...Palin had apparently missed the real message this electoral season in Arizona: for his three decades in Congress, McCain hadn't gone with the flow enough, at least not enough to satisfy many Arizona Republicans. Why else would his rival, former congressman J.D. Hayworth, be billing himself as "the consistent conservative"? Many of the GOP's most faithful, the kind who vote in primaries despite 115-degree heat, tired long ago of McCain the Maverick, the man who had crossed the aisle to work with Democrats on issues like immigration reform, global warming, and restricting campaign contributions. "Maverick" is a mantle McCain no longer claims; in fact, he now denies he ever was one. "I never considered myself a maverick," he told me. "I consider myself a person who serves the people of Arizona to the best of his abilities." Yet here was Palin, urging her fans four times in 15 minutes to send McCain the Maverick back to Washington.

“I know and I agree with you, however, the original poster, Breto, has apparently decided to duck the real questions:
So whould you have said the same thing about Ronald Reagan?
Would your approach have been the same?
Remember, he was the first to not only propose Amnesty, but to get it passed.
I offer...Yes and Yes
you Missed my April 3 reply so for your reading pleasure I resubmitt...
“Amnesty was Reagns greatest sin and in my mind kept him from being a truly great president. Being of advanced age I remember the debate around amnesty and the final outcome with some sadness. I argued then it would only lead to more illegals and would drive the social services cost through the roof. I was right then I am right now. Reagans amnesty was the sugar the brought the 10s of millions that are here now. Do it again and the progression will be geometric and it will be the end of the union. Not only will the left end up with an unsurmountable voting majority consisting of a state defendant class Obamas drive to redistribute the wealth will collapse the economy completely and we will all be standing on corners for day jobs. Immigration is the no forgiveness issue for me and it should be for all thinking conservatives.
PS I didnt llke TEFRA either”
Have a blessed Easter
You are still disengenously ignoring all the conservative positions/votes he has had over his career.
This is a very deceitful practice.
You cannot honestly refer to John McCain as a “Flaming Socialist”.
It is a rhetorically dishonet behavior on your part.
A fair statement.
And any Senator who would conceive of constraining free speech (McCain-Feingold) or selling citizenship at the discount rate (Amnesty) is not a Conservative.
Would you accept "Flaming Opportunist"?
Thank you for you service also. Welcome home, brother. I too meant no real offense, and apoligize for my sarcasams in the heat of political discussion....
I believe that Palin’s stance, as a potential 2012 Presidential candidate, will of necessity, always be stated as following the Law in a positive manner... ie “I support legal immigration.” Remedial policy to deal with illegal immigration is best left for after her election. I trust that, given her obvious Patriotism, Palin, as President, will address illegal immigration forthrightly. She will need a conservative Republican Congress to help her.... We already know what the Democrates have in store for us.....Holy heck! They intend to sell out/dilute our birthright as Americans in order to cement political power for the present, and for the distant future......
When Swartzkoff returned from Vietnam, he had decided to put an end to his military career and resign his commission, because he did not like the attitudes, ethics, politics, etc that had evolved in the Post WWII Army . A General convinced him that if he really cared about the Army, and his Nation, he should stay in, and be a force to
improve/rebuild the Army. It was a convincing argument and I believe that the Army, and the country benifited from his decision to stay.....
Change always comes easiest from within.... thats why Sarah always says that she is a Republican, despite it’s current flaws......I, like General Scwartzkoff, intend to stay and fight for the soul of the Republican Party, and for the soul of our beloved Republic.... would you consider returning Home and helping me in this struggle from within?
Yes, “He has Risen” and that fact alone gives me confidence in our nation’s future......Be of stout heart, and good cheer.....Dedicate yourself to our nation’s Rebirth....
Happy Easter.........
Aunt B, you’re not gonna try and bait me into defending McCain are you? LOLOLOLOL
I neither support, nor like John McCain, and believe that he has been, and will continue to be, a shortsighted and self serving politician....You’re preaching to the guy that bought tickets for, and sits in, the Box Seat Section of Reagan’s Conservative Stadium.....
Reagan was quoted later, in a conversation reported by his son Michael, as regretting his signing of Ted Kennedy’s Amnesty Bill. Reagan believed it was his worst political mistake. Yes Ronnie it was, and it bears remembering how disasterious Amnesty would be for our nation.
Thank you for you service also. Welcome home, brother. I too meant no real offense, and apoligize for my sarcasams in the heat of political discussion....they were intended to give pause.....
I believe that Palin’s stance, as a potential 2012 Presidential candidate, will of necessity, always be stated as following the Law in a positive manner... ie “I support legal immigration.” I take that at face value.
Statements defining remedial policy to deal with illegal immigration are best left for after her election. Its thae nature of politics.
I trust that, given her obvious Patriotism, Palin, as President, will address illegal immigration forthrightly. She will need a conservative Republican Congress to help her.... We already know what the Democrats have in store for us.....Holy heck Batman! They intend to sell out/dilute our birthright as Americans in order to cement political power for the near present, and on into the distant future......

Yes I understood “’46” was the year of your birth....I mis wrote in my response....boy time has flown hasn’t it? I’m getting senile...LOLOLOLOL

Happy Easter Breto......... 1849er LOLOLOL
Happy Easter, everyone and that includes 12 year old’s still hunting for eggs.
I cant think of one piece of McCain legislation that wasnt hand in hand with the democrats or that ever did one ounce of good for America. Can you?
The Neo Leftists PaulBots who start these threads
and push their divide and conqueror propaganda are
like the tools from the Romanian Marxist Nicolae Ceausescu
days.
It’s patently obvious that MSM wants McCain to win.
It’t also patently obvious that MSM hates Sarah Palin.
So, MSM are in a pickle and that’s where the Ron Paul faction and MSM entwine.
While MSM heralds McCain as a wonderful senator who “gets thing done”, both factions are hell bent to point out that Sarah is supporting a man not embraced by Tea Party goers and conservative Republicans, in the hopes that the distinction will tarnish Sarah’s conservative credentials. It works with the dumb-downed some, but not with the smarter majority.
McCain should have retired and now he’ll have to be retired by Arizona voters in their primary on August 24.
How many illegals do you employ?
Take a look at post 110.
you have dug up one thing I can say I actually like about him..lol
lol....I hear ya!
i have always been ashamed to say McCain comes from very solid Mississippi stock ..I think we even have some monuments to his kin over that little conflict from way back
lord I hope we don’t nominate another idiot like him
“I consider myself a person who serves the people of Arizona to the best of his abilities.”
McCain hasn’t served the voters of Arizona since he ran for President in 2000. Ever since then, he has been serving himself.
