ANACORTES, Wash. An explosion and fire at a Washington state oil refinery shook homes and shot flames into the night sky early Friday, killing four people and critically injuring three others. The fire struck the Tesoro Corp. refinery in Anacortes, about 70 miles north of Seattle on Puget Sound, at about 12:30 a.m., the company said. The blaze occurred while maintenance work was being performed and was extinguished in about 90 minutes. Three employees are hospitalized with major burns over the majority of their bodies. Susan Gregg-Hanson, a spokeswoman for Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, said they are one women, 36, and two men 34 and 41. A 29-year-old woman died of her burns at the hospital....

Ghastly way to die... Sounds to me like they may have been doing maintenance on an improperly ventilated tank.

Oh man. I just had a dream two nights ago about a gasline leak and evacuation in our neighborhood. The two large pipelines that comes from those plants near Anacortes passes 200’ east of the house! (It even prompted me to write a note to look up the blast radius if one of them went).
Prayers for these guy’s families and the injured.
My good friend’s husband used to work there, and was in the hiring “class” with a couple of the deceased. Prayers for the family members and survivors.
