GOP fears backlash over health care stance
April 1, 2010
WASHINGTON Top Republicans are starting to worry about their health care rallying cry Repeal the bill. It just might singe GOP candidates in Novembers elections, they fear, if voters begin to see benefits from the new law.
Democrats, hoping the GOP is indeed positioning itself too far to the right for the elections, are taking note of every Republican who pledges to fight for repeal. Such a pledge might work well in conservative-dominated Republican primaries, they say, but it could backfire in the fall if more moderate voters turn out.

Either the Republicans are retarded cowards, or this AP story is a complete fabrication.
How many times are we going to post this story???
Either the AP is deliberately trying to mislead, or the GOP “leaders” in question are imbeciles.
they better fear backlash against RINOs who fear backlash!
What a bunch of bullshit, psywar, political propaganda.
Not likely, since the "benefits" are not suppose to begin showing up till 2014 while the tax increases begin immediately. I suspect that the huge increases in health care costs to those already paying huge costs will have the exact opposite effect that the AP is hoping for.
That’s their problem. They can go run and hide from the communists if that’s what they want to do. We the People will handle this.
They had better fear getting through the primaries if they aren’t opposing Fascism.
What a compound AP pantload!!!
This is the media trying to scare the RINOs, nothing more.
Any Republicans afraid that opposing Obamacare will hurt them at the polls, I have two words for you:
Scott Brown.
If the issue was a winner in Kennedyville, it will be a winner almost anywhere. Now, nut up and fight those commies! You, too, Snowe and Collins. Show some fight!
Either the GOP’s claims about how badly this health care bill was going to screw the country were lies, or they should be doing everything they can to see that it is repealed.
And the thing is, they weren’t lies. I’m just afraid that too many GOP politicians think that they were.
April Fool!
Does AP know Arlen Specter is no longer a “Republican”?
Two things come to mind. Obama canceled his tour to Indonesia to go on the health care stump again. Why? He signed into law. And now he his talking about drilling for oil. Why do you suppose that is? He is looking at the polls and doesn't like what he sees. Too late for that. The Emperor has no clothes.

One thing that happens right away is kids up to age 26 being able to stay on their parents’ insurance. Also the ban on refusing to cover infants with pre-existing conditions.
Entitlement programs are extremely hard to kill because the people who gain from their services fight tooth and nail to defend them while the same level of passion doesn’t exist among those who primarily just pay for them.
That, and since unless we can impeach Obama, he’ll never sign a repeal. So that puts 2013 as the earliest date.
Yes, the AP fabricated the story in the hopes of frightening many of the coward-at-heart Republicans. ...You know, the kind of Republicans who STILL - - in 2010 - - run like scared bunny rabbits from the dying "mainstream" Democrat newsrooms. Look how quickly that coward Corker folded.
Be that as it may there is just no money to pay for this crap anymore. Reality always wins out in the long term.
Paging Lindsey Graham and Juan McCain. Any repub who fears the backlash of healthcare repeal is a pussy.
