Strategists: GOP is peaking too early
Washington Times ^ | March 31, 2010 | Stephen Dinan

Former President Bill Clinton's top political strategists, who had a front-row seat for the Republicans' 1994 electoral successes, said Wednesday that the GOP today is peaking too early and is unlikely to see a repeat performance this November.

Pollster Stan Greenberg said a "change election," as political scientists call major shifts in electoral preferences, already happened when Republican Scott Brown's surprise victory for Sen. Edward M. Kennedy's Senate seat, and between then and November, Democrats will have gained back ground.

"When we look back on this, we're going to say Massachusetts is when 1994 happened," Mr. Greenberg said.

Whistling past the cemetary. Another US Senator (D) ruminated that the HC bill is political folly because it bills up front for services that come four years down the pike, and in the meantime are fortified with increases in insurance premiums.

The gory details of the bill are JUST NOW STARTING to come out. They’ll drip out from here until November.

On top of that, the economy continues to deteriorate, AND we may just have war in the ME with Iran.

Throw in the fact that Obama is going to ask us to foot the bill for illegals too, and you have a mess in November.

People will be too eager to vote anything other than D by then.

This is a war declared on American freedom. It is not politics as usual.

Obama could campaign from now until November as a rabid gun clinging staunch Christian conservative on a limited government platform and there will still be a bloodbath for his party.

He and his party lost their credibility and more. It is impossible for him to regain it back.

“This GOP gene pool must be scrubbed, immediately.”

I don’t think you can do that from outside.

They’ll say this after the April 15 tsunami of protests, then they’ll say it again in August, then they get b*tchslapped in November.

Former President Bill Clinton's top political strategists

Consider the source - 'nuff said. They want us to shut up and find something else to talk about so that Obastardcare drops off the radar - let's redouble our efforts to keep talking abour all the myriad sins of Obastardcare.

That would be even more unfortunate, then there would be ‘Cap’ with no ‘Trade.’

I guess it would be fitting, the Democrats have already transformed health care through some obscure budgetary process. Of course the next step would be to bi-pass legislative process all together!

The majority of the republican party is worthless and is best at losing and spending tax payer money and voter confidence. Fortunately for the country we don’t have to rely upon them. Obama isn’t going to let voters cool down and forget. But just in case, the RNC would do well to dump Steele.

I thought Steele would be good. Really did. However he has been a real let down.

The problems with Steele:

1. He drifts off-message and mumbles comments that get him into trouble.

2. He cannot close a sale on television.

3. He wants to be liked by the MSM, when in fact they loathe and ridicule him.

interesting point....add to this that 75% of the base actually disagree with the direction the party is taking and the mix isnt as good as some would have you believe.

He seemed much better before he got into that position. Since becoming the Chair he had aided with other Pubbies in morphing the GOP into a spineless blob of jelly effectively co-opted and conned by the Dems.
