The Wrong Prescription: Democrats' Health Overhaul Dangerously Expands IRS Authority
House of Representatives ^ | March 18, 2010 | Ways & Means

Posted on 03/31/2010 11:00:52 AM PDT by Whenifhow

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

***Highlights of New IRS Authority***

IRS agents verify if you have “acceptable” health care coverage

IRS has the authority to fine you up to $2,250 or 2 percent of your income (whichever is greater) for failure to prove that you have purchased “minimum essential coverage”

IRS can confiscate your tax refund

IRS audits are likely to increase

IRS will need up to $10 billion to administer the new health care program this decade

IRS may need to hire as many as 16,500 additional auditors, agents and other employees to investigate and collect billions in new taxes from Americans

Nearly half of all these new individual mandate taxes will be paid by Americans earning less than 300 percent of poverty ($66,150 for a family of four)

***SPECIAL EXEMPTION***

Democrats prohibit the IRS from imposing these taxes and penalties on illegal immigrants

CONCLUSION

Much of the opposition to the Democrats’ massive health care overhaul plan has focused on its large tax increases, steep Medicare cuts, and dangerous interference in the doctor-patient relationship. Far less attention has been paid to Democrats’ plans to grant massive new powers to the IRS, backed up by billions of dollars in additional taxpayer fund for the hiring of thousands of new IRS agents, examiners, and other personnel. This report’s extended discussion of just one aspect of that legislation – the creation and enforcement of a new IMT – demonstrates how the expanded powers and reach of the IMT will become all too familiar to American families and employers if H.R. 3590 is passed by the House and signed by the President.

Have you ever noticed how many congressmen and senators are short? Short people with a Napoleonic Complex are drawn to positions of power.

You've never had dealings with the IRS, have you?

When my EX-wife was still handling our finances, she assured me that she had been filing for us. Right up until the IRS started taking 15% of my weekly check...

Had she not filed for you both? Oh, I know. The IRS can be ruthless. But there is no authority spelled out in the HCB for them to do anything in the ways I mentioned.

Never Again? Ringing hollow with the Congressional Gestapo. Next comes, the Holocaust of the elderly; do you think?

Look at Nancy’s girly boys in the pictures I posted. There a few guys and many as short as Nancy is.

My wife calls it short man syndrome.

The stupid, thieving, lying greedy c--- didn't file at ALL. It was almost enough to turn one gay. Never propose during a Solar eclipse.

The IRS makes up laws as they go along. They have their own courts, where you have to prove you aren't guilty, and you can't sue them unless THEY permit it. All in all, it's something the Mafia and bank robbers can only dream about.

I can't wait to see what the racial ratio of the next 16,000 IRS recruits is going to be. It would be a conveniant way to mask Barack the First's Private Legion.

Those protestors could be many people, but they are flipping off tax paying Americans who believe in the Constitution.

I used to work for one.

In his office, all the guest seating (2 hairs and an office sofa) had the legs shortened or removed, while his chair was raised as high as it would go.

Well, I don’t worry about going to jail for civil disobedience. But I do worry about what they might do to my assets.

Your assets belong to the State. You have a duty to work for the State. Your health care is provided so that you can better serve the State. You have no reason to worry. The State will provide what it believes you need.

This fine to tax to gun confiscation system (ie. destruction of free people) started with the “child support” laws.
