On Monday, March 29, 2010, President Obama was interviewed by NBC News and portions were broadcast on the Today show on March 30. According to the The Caucus blog at the New York Times:
"Mr. Obama said he would not select a church while living in the White House. 'What we have decided for now is not to join a single church, and the reason is because Michelle and I have realized we are very disruptive to services,' he said.
Instead, he said he would from time to time visit St. John's Church, across Lafayette Square from the White House, where many presidents have worshiped. He also said the family prefers to worship in the privacy of the presidential retreat when it spends the weekend there. 'We love the chapel at Camp David,' he said.
And he noted that he is sent a daily devotional on his BlackBerry."
On October 13, 2009, a column in the Atlanta Journal-Constitution answered a reader's question:

There’s no church who’s theology he’d want made public that would have him as a member.
mkj—thanks, buddy! Love the new tagline!
Why doesn’t he just admit they are atheists? Really. Why be coy? Come on out Barack! The media won’t betray you. And most of Hollywood will follow you.
Church of the Orthodox Communist.
Just what we need. More media finally waking up to the truth about The Evil One, and telling us stuff we all knew well over a year ago. How simply scintillating. Just keep the purple-lipped, pucker-pussed rump-chimp off my TV for this one day, please?
I have never been so sick of being forced to look at the face of evil incarnate all day every day. Seriously, I never before would have thought it possible, but Bukkaki "the sphinc-face" O'Bunga is actually making me hate my TV...
Is it just me, or is he really starting to look like the Grinch dipped in diarrhea? I'm just asking...
;-/
How about a mosque?
He doesn’t need a mosque, he is waiting to be worshipped by the living dead in the rebuilt Jerusalem temple..
Obama also said that there was a group of ministers, perhaps only, that he worshiped with. His main comment about this activity was that they prayed for him and his family. He said that twice. No mention of praying for others or praying for God’s help and forgiveness.
Well, he only has another 33 months to go until he returns to Chicago, so I can see his point.
Every Protestant church in Washington DC would be delighted by the “disruption” caused by the First Family’s attendance.
St John’s is an Episcopal church (almost Catholic) and you know how much Muslims hate Catholics.
I would bar the door to St John’s if I saw him and family coming across the street.
Wow-and this comes out during Holy Week-just in time for him to skip the whole Easter thing.
He got out of town on Palm Sunday, but probably couldn’t come up with anything for Easter.
Wonder if he’s having ham?
That's not Church. The whole purpose of Church is for fellowship with the Saints. To encourage and lift up other Christians.
And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near. Hebrews 10:24-25
Muslims don’t buy in to the crucifixion. According to them it never happened. Zero couldn’t care less it’s Easter.
J.Wright is keeping their pew warm in Chicago.
For once, I actually agree with Obama. It would be about him, it always is. This issue is totally between him and God, come on Freepers, focus. There are other, less personal issues out there that are affecting our lives and our children’s futures that need challenged.
If he and his family would regularly take the brief walk to St. Johns, his visits would be commonplace, instead of a media event.
Just another way to pull the wig over the eyes of the public
