CREW files complaints with FTC, IRS against Sean Hannity, the Freedom Concerts and Alliance

Today, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed complaints with the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) against Sean Hannity, his Freedom Concerts, the Freedom Alliance and Lt. Col. Oliver North. Copies of the complaints were also sent to the attorney generals of the states in which concerts are scheduled to be held this summer.

CREW’s FTC complaint alleges Hannity and Freedom Concerts have engaged in illegal and deceptive marketing practices by suggesting that all money generated by ticket sales for the Freedom Concerts he sponsors each summer goes to scholarships for children of killed and wounded service members. In fact, the concerts are staged by Premiere Marketing, which is headed by Duane Ward – also the head of Premiere Speakers Bureau, which exclusively represents Mr. Hannity and Lt. Col. North. After staging the concerts, Premiere donates an unknown portion of the concert proceeds to the Freedom Alliance.

They want to have the tax-exempt charity donation designation stripped from the Freedom Concerts. Is Debbie Schlussel involved with this?

“by suggesting that all money generated by ticket sales for the Freedom Concerts”

There is always administrative costs. As I understand it the Freedom Concerts are much better than most. I think someone is trying to change the debate away from health-care.

Why? What is the problem?

I think the problem mostly is that they are being very effective and the far left hates that.

Hannity has always been careful on the radio about stating
profits would be donated to his cause, but we don’t know if
the promoters were that careful in their promo materials.

The Freedom Concerts aren’t run by the Freedom Alliance, so the marketing is deceptive. Hannity says that 100% of the money raised from the concerts goes to the children’s scholarships, but that is not true according to CREW. Apparently the concerts are actually owned by a group called Premiere Speaker Bureau, run by a guy named Ward. Ward is the EXCLUSIVE speakers’ representative for Hannity and Lt Col Oliver North. Premiere sends only a portion of the money they raise to the Freedom Alliance - but it won’t disclose how much. The other three split the proceeds, it seems.

There’s other stuff, but you’d have to read the complaint. Too long to repeat here. Just click the link

Crew is the Dem party front group that gave Brian Ross of ABC the dirt on the Palm Beach FL congressman.
Crew is run out of Congressman JOhn Dingell office and the head is his former Chief Of Staff.
