A handful of advertisers, such as Apple, have abandoned Fox altogether. Network executives say they believe they could charge higher rates if the host were more widely acceptable to advertisers.

At the time only AT&T would go for the changes Apple asked them to make to their network. Support for visual voicemail being the one I remember being a big one at the time. Also, from the standpoint of simplifying manufacturing going with a GSM carrier in the US made the most sense. To get those upgrades in place the carrier understandably wanted exclusivity. Everywhere in the world they got that.
iPhone’s now have cut and paste.
I love that the same argument about Macs vs PCs is now taking place about phones. Apple is still an electronics hardware maker who produces software to run on their hardware. Google produces software only. If you want the Droid you have to be on Verizon, the MyTouch 3G you have to be on T-Mobile. The hardware exclusivity is still there, but perhaps less noticeable since the software is cross-carrier.
For my money Beck called the problem and he said it at CPAC quite nicely. WE called them RHINOS and they are really progressives. Now there is a continuum of progressive-ism but when you call people out on facts that cannot be rebutted and they do not have a good explainaton. When you present facts and can associate movements and persons things get really clear really fast.
Reading and going to the sources backs up Beck unlike the other commentators, We can also take a direction to correct the errors of the government and bring back the country that had so much prosperity.
Cloward and Piven are a reality and it’s trying to happen to the country. To see how this system has affected other countries you need to look fairly hard but the symptoms are there. Europe has a disaffected class and they are mainly young and know that the system is trying to make cookie cutter people, they are resisting albeit in the wrong maner, but it’s all they know. They have no mechanism to change it. These nightly riots in France are a product of Socialism.
The very thing that was protested against in the 1960’s by the people in power now.
Luckily Our founders put a mechanism in place, and gave us an extreme fall back position.
It’s childish to infer that I am a Daily Kos devotee. I am a conservative and Beck’s rhetoric makes me squirm. Those who swoon over Beck’s every word are no different than the Obamaniacs who got us into this hot water.
Mentioning Beck and Olbermann together is not a selling point.
“Google produces software only. If you want the Droid you have to be on Verizon, the MyTouch 3G you have to be on T-Mobile. The hardware exclusivity is still there, but perhaps less noticeable since the software is cross-carrier.”
Not only that, but not every Android phone runs the same version of Android. I believe there are at least four different versions in the wild. That, combined with the various hardware platforms, means that not all Android software runs on all phones.
It’s a significant problem.
Here I thought we were talking Microsoft. ;-)
Android is doing pretty well, but as I mentioned in #184, there’s trouble in paradise.
The beneficial effect of Android will be for Apple to drop AT&T exclusivity. Then you’ll see iPhone head back up.
You also apparently fail to realize that Android makes it that much harder for WM7 to get mindshare and marketshare.
By the way, Beck isn’t a Republican so it’s hard to see how he reflects badly on that party. ;-)
Same here Windows 7 never crashed on me once on my several computers running it and I have been using this way back when the betas debuted 2 years ago.
Thank you Carolyn. I appreciate it. Thought I’d bring it over here. I was sure I’d read that Beck was second only to O’Rielly. Thanks for confirming it.

I agree, Savage and O’Rielly are off base far too often for me.
That doesn’t mean the either can’t and don’t toss out some good thoughts from time to time. O’Rielly is far to much of a brown nose IMO. He is far too willing to throw a Conservative under the bus, just to sound reasoned, at least IMO.
They replayed a Beck program yesterday that talked about socialist genocides, and the contrast between our old society and Nazi Germany, the U.S.S.R., and China. Wow, it was great and it laid things out crystal clear.
Every high school student should be tied down to an ant hill and forced to view and explain the meaning of that show before they could get up.
Okay, perhaps that’s a bit too over the top, but you catch my drift. I don’t think kids have this presented to them in school. It’s a damned shame if they indeed don’t.
But then you don't have the simple dumb user experience the Mac is known for. If you are going to use a Mac to claim windows is an inferior platform why would you tought running windows as a big benefit? Really it makes no sense.
Until he starts losing money, which ain't likely.
Because they are unabashed Obamites.
Any one that doesn't know Apple's a lefty loonie bin hasn't been paying attention. Having said that they make a great product, and I use them exclusively.
I probably don't agree with the cooperate position of many products I buy, but I but the best bang for my buck, or what ever gives me the greatest pleasure.
I’ve got their iPhone, so I’m no one to talk.
I’m just going to have to use it to advance the cause of our Founding Father’s vision all the more, to make up for it.
You’d be surprise what some folks don’t know. They’re busy working, supporting the family and don’t have the time to burn that other folks do.
Yes, tuned in folks should know. I agree.
Beck sucks on Radio, but excels on his TV show, he is a great teacher, especially for the uninformed that make up the majority of the TV audience. I am a Extreme Subscriber, so I have access to all his stuff.
RE: “Beck is popular because he is educating people about American history and economics, two subjects woefully mistaught in our public schools. He’s entertaining, usually incorporating stories about himself and his own development (which some people like but others find ego-centric). He has guests and most of these people are well-educated, articulate authors.
If American public schools taught more about the philosophy that built our governmental structure and the nitty-gritty of economics, Beck wouldn’t have such a captive audience.
No other show teaches as Beck’s does.”

Beck is an excellent teacher — did anyone else see the show on Che and the other thug leaders? I would have hated to miss that — I knew what Obama and his cohorts were all about before the election but have really learned a lot more from Beck’s show. I hope he stays on the air!
Too fervent? I guess it would be much better if Beck were wishy-washy and soft spoken like the GOP has been for far too long.
We are way past the tiptoe stage. No more - it is time to get a little loud. Beck represents a lot of people -
Where is Beck wrong?
“If you are going to use a Mac to claim windows is an inferior platform why would you tought running windows as a big benefit? Really it makes no sense.”
I didn’t say it was a “big benefit”. I said Macs are the most flexible computers. Many folk need to run a Windows program or two until Mac ports or a better native equivalent arrives. Windows capability, running on Intel processors, makes that easy.
Since Macs are Unix based, almost all POSIX software compiles and runs fine also. That’s a ton more software not available natively on Windows.
I agree though, the real beauty of Macs is running native software, available nowhere else. :-)
Well, I will say this for fervent - he is a lightning rod. Much of what he has to say is valid, but could be said with more finesse. Again, this is what I hear from him on the radio. He is absolutely exhausting.
They need to wake up and see what they are doing, the Catholics are asleep too, else there would be mass excommunications, of politicians. Oh maybe they need the money.
I have never been in a church that preached a sermon that rubbed the biggest donor the wrong way.
