ARLINGTON CEMETERY - 03-21-10, Old Guard Joins FReepers, Eagles to Counter Phelps
March 27,2010

Posted on 03/27/2010 6:16:19 PM PDT by trooprally

We heard that Phelps’ demon clan was to be at Arlington Cemetery on Sunday so we quickly amended our Saturday permit to include Sunday. Some of the Gathering of Eagles members who were in town Saturday to keep watch over our Military Memorials joined the DC Chapter.

We were pleasantly surprised to see some of Arlington’s Old Guard joining us. And they were pleased to see us. While the Old Guard could not hold any signs their presence was very noticeable and welcomed.

BELOW LEFT: Old Guard before Phelps showed up. BELOW LEFT: Photo Op. Concretebob is hiding but if you follow the U.S./Marine Corps flag pole down he’s the one in the olive drab tee shirt.

BELOW: Old Guard holding their own. Wouldn’t expect any less from them. The lady is an Eagle's wife, and Tolerance Sucks Rocks is also shown.

BELOW: Several of the Eagles helping to hold the MOAB. L-R: ?? , Toothless Dawg, and FReeper GunsAreOK. We added the extra foot supports to the MOAB to get it above the patriots in our “cage”. Since we were permitted this year, NPS put a cage around us.

PATRIOTS NOT SHOWN: Another Eagle, 3DJoy, ConcreteBob, Sensei Ern, [Mrs] T and myself. A second passerby also joined us.

And as we normally get when we do these Rallies, we had plenty of support from passerby and cars. There were several groups of school kids walking by who were vary supportive of us. And we received a lot of waves from the tour bus passengers and drivers.

BELOW: For some of those who don’t know the Phelps’ One-Branch-Family-Tree Demon Clan, here is their picture. They also spit on the flag and stood on it.

A military funeral is definitely a sobering experience. I’ve been to too many, especially at Arlington.

We just appreciate you being down here for Walter Reed and then Saturday’s Rally. You and Veeram do more than most.

You’ve done your duty. I remember when you were standing with us at Bethesda Naval Hospital when Phelps was there.

Yep, we got spoiled last weekend. I started to peel in several places. This weekend the cold and wind came back. Walter reed and Olney were cold, but NO snow.

They also spit on the flag and stood on it.

If spiting on a the flag is political speech, why isn't popping the spitter right in the offending orifice? AA a way of expressing one's opinion of the previous act.

we didn’t even know who the soldier was but it affected us

we were on a grayline tour bus and we visited the wwii memorial and there was a father and son with us the son told everyone on the bus that his father was in wwii and had to see the memorial before he died

everyone on the tour bus gave him a standing ovation

It was one of the prouder days in my life to see my father buried at Arlington. I kept thanking all those involved in the process. They all told me, “No Sir. Thank your father for his service to our country.” They all seemed honored to participate in the burial.

Good question. Some patriots deserve a medal for their discipline for not popping them.

my two young nephews were in our group and we got to the vietnam memorial

while we were there my nephews saw people using pencils and paper to go over their relatives names at the memorial

one of my nephews asked me if vietnam was worth us losing 58,000 men

I said the moral cause was right but unfortunately the execution was poor

my nephew’s father in our group just smiled at me

Heart warming story. Seems like the tour buses have real patriots on them. Maybe that is why they are tourists, they don’t want to live so close to where the pols live.

Positively excellent, as usual.

I hope to be able to join you again next month when I come back for the 2 Amendment march on the 19th.

I don’t know if I am glad or sad that you SO MUCH minimized the disrespectful antics with the flag, just before they left.

What a disgrace their signs are...

The whole long drive from Florida was worth these Arlington FREEPS...for anyone who does not know, my husband is buried there and I will be some day too!

Thanks for the special ping! It's easy to detect the Old Guardsmen by their psyique and their haircut (I used to look like that 48 years ago ... ahem).

Keep up your good work and God bless you all for what you do!

And yes, please add me to your ping list, Mr T.

She also pantomined wiping her butt with the flag at the end.
I thought those young Warriors were on the verge of acting out, but they exercised amazing restraint.

"You and all of the DC Freepers are the best."

Well Thank You, from the DC Chapter. FReeRepublic and Gathering of Eagles members usually overlap organizations so the Thank You is also from them.
